No idea what to wear to that wedding?
The 5 rules and the perfect dress

The wedding season has started and that means a lot (what do we give, what is a fun idea for a bachelorette party?), but mainly: what do I wear? You want to look nice: festive and at the same time not outshine the bride. It should actually fit from church and dinner to the party. Because I know how you can struggle with the dress code, I have gathered some beautiful looks that I will show you this week. Just a quick checklist.
Don't wear white
That's reserved for the bride. Unless there is another dress code, stay far away from white.
Black is okay, but under certain conditions
Black clothing can have a less festive association, so if you wear black, the outfit must still radiate festivity. This can be in the form of a flowing model, puff sleeves, a nice slit, or a low back.
Check the location
That's a tip from Victoria Beckham and I use it quite often. Google the venue so you have a bit of an idea of the atmosphere of the building or restaurant. A festival-style wedding calls for a different look than a wedding at the Amstel Hotel. And if you're going to sail on a boat, it's nice to wear ballet flats and not heels.
Choose comfort
Of course, fashion comes before comfort, but at a wedding, it's nice if you can move comfortably in your outfit. You'll probably be wearing the same dress all day. You have to sit, walk, eat, and dance in it, so a bit of comfort is very welcome. This also applies to the shoes.
Your bag should be small, but big enough for your phone and some touch-up essentials
A clutch is always ideal because you can easily keep it on your lap or place it next to your plate on the table.
Now onto my outfit. It's an elegant dress from the brand Sophia, has a cheerful print (also ideal, because if a little stain occurs, it shows less than with a solid piece) and is made of real silk/mix quality. It falls loosely, wears smoothly, and is ideal on a warmer day because the material is so airy. It has one sleeve and the shoulder strap is removable. The open sleeve gives the dress a playful effect. The price is €275 and it is available at Pauw Amsterdam.
