Feels like -12: here's how to stylishly add an extra layer to your outfit

By

I don't know if you consciously wanted to avoid the push notifications ‘From tomorrow days of cutting cold with a feel temperature of up to -12’ from last night, but from today the freezing cold is simply impossible to avoid. I mean: that wind? Getting through January is already a challenge, right? And now it feels like -12 degrees. Super.

Anyways, the weather gods (or perhaps better said: weather devils) are just adding a nasty touch to that. Locally up to -9 which can feel much colder (-12!) due to a strong wind. ‘Anyone who has to go outside in the morning better dress very well,’ says the Buienradar meteorologist. You understand: as a shopping editor, I take this advice very seriously with the end result: 12 x this is how you stylishly add an extra layer to your outfit.

Go for a turtleneck under your suit, blouse, sweater, or maybe even dress

Wear an extra layer of shirt under your favorite look

Warm, stylish, and the perfect backup layer against the freezing cold: a sweater draped over the shoulders

Make a hood out of your scarf. Looks cool and works perfectly against cold ears and bad hair days

Wear it double. Yes, your coat!

Or go for a body warmer or gilet over your coat

Love for layers these days means an extra thick sweater under your dress. Amazing, right?

Match in color or tie it around your body: your scarf is these days the perfect winter accessory to be part of your outfit

Leg warmers are back in business and they now perfectly match the weather forecasts

Socks over tights are a thing and perfect in wool variant for extra warm feet

Do you still find those tights too cold? Then definitely keep your dress or skirt on in combination with pants.

And last but certainly not least: gloves should be seen and can absolutely be part of your outfit. Yep, even indoors.
