Forget Boulevard Saint-Germain

This is the most beautiful, and lesser-known, little street in Paris

Of course you've been to Paris. At least, I expect that a bit from you as an Amayzine reader. Three hours by train awaits you in paradise. What on earth could have held you back? If only to look up all the Emily in Paris addresses right? Even if you've been to Paris multiple times, it could very well be that you've missed the most beautiful little street in Paris. Time and again. It's not long and it's a bit hidden in the sixth arrondissement. Indeed: in Saint-Germain.

Cour du Commerce is one of the few little streets that breathes old Paris. Because once, before George-Eugène Hausmann modernized the city with its wide streets (which are beautiful by the way), there were many narrow streets like Cour du Commerce Saint-André. Here you can still find the authentic cobblestones from the seventeenth century on the street. So I would leave the heels in your hotel room (these are our four original favorites in Paris). You can reach the Cour du Commerce via Boulevard Saint-Germain (at number 130) or via Rue Saint-André des Arts (at number 59) or Rue de l’Ancienne Comédie.

The little street is 120 meters long and partially covered with glass. On both sides, you see beautiful old facades and wrought iron signs of the shops and restaurants. Le Procope is also located in Cour du Commerce Saint-André, it is one of the oldest restaurants in Paris where a celebrity might still drop by. Relais Odeon is also a nice place to eat or drink, and another recommendation is Un Dimanche à Paris, a shop where you can buy nice books and chocolate and where cooking classes are also held.

A slightly gruesome fact: in this little street, Mr. Guillotine tested his new invention, indeed: the guillotine. A few sheep were unnecessarily beheaded here for the sake of science.
