Princess Alexia wears a bright red dress from her mother Máxima on Prinsjesdag

It is the third Tuesday of September and that means: Prinsjesdag. While it is of course about all the new plans, we especially want to know what everyone is wearing. The royal family in particular. Princesses Amalia and Alexia are also present this year. And Alexia's dress looks familiar to us. The princesses like to dive into their fashionable mom's walk-in closet.

The princess appeared in a bright red dress with a low V-neck and long sleeves. The creation comes from the Belgian fashion house Natan and was previously worn by Queen Máxima. This was during her first Prinsjesdag in 2002 and a year later during a state visit. Thus, the dress is older than the 19-year-old princess herself. While Máxima at that time chose a red hair accessory from British hat designer Philip Treacy, Alexia wore a simpler gold hair clip in the shape of a branch with leaves.

The queen herself wore a light gray dress with a large bow, a design by Claes Iversen. She combined it with a subtle hat in the same color. Also in this creation, a family detail could be discovered. The dress had a brooch made of various aquamarines. The piece of jewelry dates from 1937 and was a wedding gift from Prince Bernhard to his wife Princess Juliana.

Princess Amalia opted for a green dress with long cape sleeves, made by the English fashion brand Safiyaa. Like her sister, she did not wear a hat. Instead, she wore a headband with pearls. King Willem-Alexander chose a classic tailcoat with the insignia of the Military William Order.

Youngest daughter Princess Ariane was not present. This may be due to her studies in Italy, but also because of her age. From their eighteenth year, the princesses are expected to be more frequently present at official occasions. Perhaps we will see the now 17-year-old Ariane next year.

At least the clothing of the royal family will not be lacking this Prinsjesdag. They all looked radiant.
