Tested: the new primer and foundation from Huda Beauty

Huda Kattan had to justify herself twice for the choices she and her team made regarding the new Easy Blur foundation. The first was a mistake she should never have made: a shade was missing. The well-known ‘Lava Cake’ had an incorrect color code, causing an uproar on TikTok among everyone wearing this shade (the shades in her foundation collection all have the same names, which is convenient). And I understand that. In this video she explains how this happened and offers her sincere apologies.

Part two: the plastic packaging. According to TikTok, it looks very cheap compared to the other foundations in her collection. Her response to this was: ‘I was inspired by the luxury foundations from brands like Chanel and Dior, but also the popular D-Bronzi drops from Drunk Elephant. These packages are compact, lightweight, and you can easily take them anywhere.’ It’s nice that Huda listens to her community and responds to the questions, one of which was justified and the other (if you ask me) completely unnecessary.

The primer
The Easy Blur Silicone-Free Smoothing Primer is, as the name suggests, silicone-free. The jelly-like pink substance is very easy to apply to the skin and absorbs quickly. What struck me immediately is that it largely makes my pores disappear, especially around my nose. It literally creates a smooth canvas. It also immediately tackles excess oil, so it’s ideal if your skin is a bit oily, and it mattifies your skin. For everyone with dry skin like me: no worries, thanks to the hydrating ingredients, your skin will still feel supple.

The foundation
The Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation, to be precise, I use in the shade ‘Toasted Coconut 240N’. Perfect for now, but in winter I need a shade lighter. The foundation has a light coverage and is literally a photo filter in a bottle (check the video below). It blurs redness and has an airbrush-like finish. You really only need a small amount for, in my opinion, a beautiful result on your entire face. Applying the foundation is very easy and it feels soft and natural on your skin, without being sticky. Huda recommends setting it with her popular setting powder, but I personally don’t find that necessary. You have a choice of 29 different shades, so now truly everyone can find a matching shade. I am very happy with this new launch and think this is a golden combination.
