‘The Menendez Brothers’: Lyle and Erik share their side of the story in new Netflix documentary

Did you also binge-watch ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’? Then I have good news. There is (yet) another new Netflix documentary about the brothers coming up. In ‘The Menendez Brothers’, Lyle and Erik share their side of the story for the first time in 30 years.
The brothers were clearly not happy with the ‘Monsters’ series. They felt that the facts were handled far too naively and inaccurately. In this new documentary, they get the chance to set the record straight. From prison, Lyle and Erik were interviewed by phone, and those recordings can be heard in the doc. Even in the trailer, they make striking statements. “Everyone knows what happened that night, but there are so many things that have not yet been told.”
The creators spoke with more important people from the case. One of them is Pamela Bozanich; she was the prosecutor and still believes that the brothers acted out of pure greed. Various family members of Lyle and Erik also share their story. Like Joan and Diane Vander Molen, the sister and niece of Kitty Menendez. In a previous interview, Joan already mentioned that José was a monster and that she still cannot forgive her sister for what she allowed to happen. Diane was already important during the trial, Lyle had confided in her about the abuse. How do they view everything that has happened now?
The ‘Monsters’ series already drew enormous attention to the Menendez case, and this new documentary will undoubtedly help with that. New evidence is being investigated, and celebs like Kim Kardashian are speaking out. She visited the brothers in prison and hopes that, along with all the new attention, their sentence will be reconsidered. The case is therefore not over yet, and we will continue to follow it. ‘The Menendez Brothers’ will be available on Netflix from October 7.
