The lawsuit over skiing Gwyneth Paltrow is now also a musical

It is almost impossible that you missed this: when Gwyneth Paltrow had a skiing accident in 2016, or rather, collided with a 76-year-old skier, a huge lawsuit followed. The man claimed that Gwyneth was responsible for the accident, and thus also for the injuries he sustained.

He asked for a bizarre compensation

Because this man, Terry Sanderson, said he was left with broken ribs and brain injury from the accident, he felt it necessary to sue Gwyneth. He demanded a rather bizarre amount as compensation: no less than 300,000 dollars. This is not an amount you just transfer to get rid of it if you believe you are innocent, and thus a trial followed that lasted two weeks. Of course, the press feasted on this story, as it was quite a bizarre accusation for something that seemed like an accident.

A theater group in England thought it would be fun to make a musical about this, titled ‘Gwyneth goes skiing’. It is of course very sad for that man that he claims to still suffer from the accident every day, but it is also quite funny that a two-week trial can take place over a simple collision while skiing. The musical became so popular that they are now going on tour worldwide. It will also come to Europe! Which countries the musical will be shown in has not yet been announced, but hopefully they will also come to the Netherlands. Such a satirical musical about a weird lawsuit is just a delightful idea?
