The longest (and ugliest) Hollywood divorces
This lasted, for example, seven years

Hollywood is the place where dreams come true and where nightmares come to life. The hobby of ‘eternal loyalty’ is not exactly what the celebs are into. Aside from Tom Hanks, I can't name a couple that has been happily together for more than twenty years right off the bat. We indulge in the love stories, but also salivate over the divorces, it seems. A selection of the longest and most dramatic.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: the battle for the children
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, once the golden couple of Hollywood, announced their divorce in 2016 after being together for twelve years, two of which were married. What followed was a legal battle primarily revolving around the custody of their six children. Here, it seems the children are more inclined to side with Angelina, as evidenced by the Instagram video of son Pax and the fact that Brad's daughters no longer want to carry his name. This divorce lasted more than five years, with allegations of abuse, child kidnapping, and intense custody battles. Although the divorce itself was finalized in 2019, custody issues continue to arise, making this case one of the longest in Hollywood history.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard: allegations and public scandals
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard separated in 2016 after a marriage of just 15 months, but the aftermath lasted much longer. Their divorce proceedings were marked by allegations of domestic violence from both sides, with numerous legal battles extending into 2022. The lawsuits and allegations were widely covered in the media, leading to reputational damage and financial losses for both parties.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries: the 72-day marriage-536-day divorce
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries made history in 2011 with their 72-day marriage. What followed was a divorce process that lasted much longer than their marriage itself, namely 536 days. The reason? Humphries claimed the marriage was a publicity stunt and sought an annulment instead of a divorce. This legal tug-of-war resulted in a prolonged and public soap opera.
Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore: millions and years of struggle
Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore were married for 31 years, until they decided to divorce in 2009. What followed was a divorce process that lasted seven years and ended in 2016. The fight over Gibson's fortune, estimated at 850 million dollars, was one of the largest financial settlements in Hollywood history. Ultimately, Moore received about half of Gibson's wealth, making this divorce one of the most expensive and longest.
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills: a bitter fight
Although technically a music legend and not a Hollywood star, the divorce of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills deserves a mention. After four years of marriage and a two-year contentious divorce, the case ended in 2008 with Mills receiving approximately 48.6 million dollars. The legal battle was bitter and public, with Mills even throwing water on McCartney's lawyer in the courtroom.
