The makeup artist of the vips

Has the most beautiful story

By
Angelique Woudenberg

I know her. Of course. If you've ever been a guest on a TV show, there's a good chance you've sat in the chair of Angelique Woudenberg. And if you've been in her hands, you'll never forget her. She makes you beautiful on the outside, but most importantly, she touches your heart. That's why so many famous people want her by their side when they need to be prepared for a performance. She is the regular makeup artist for Humberto Tan and now a dear friend of Katja Schuurman, Igone de Jongh, and Leco van Zadelhoff.

This week her book ‘Angelique’ was published. About her life, growing up in a white neighborhood in Amsterdam's Dapperbuurt where she was a strange duck as a child of color, especially because she was born to white parents. She turned out to be the result of a fling by her mother. In kindergarten, she was touched, looked at strangely, and called ‘the black girl’. Her mother enlightened her by making Angelique feel how special she was. The life lessons Angelique gathered in her life are shared in this book. The beautiful and also the hard lessons of life. For instance, she went to Costa Rica alone after her son took his own life. She wanted to scream her sadness, literally. She recommends that to everyone in mourning. Don't cover it up, let it be.

I find Angelique (who by the way is 70 – I had to check that six times before I believed it) a stunning person. After hearing these stories, she is possibly even more beautiful than before.
