These are the men of Femke Bol & Lieke Klaver
Just about last night. If you missed it live, there's a good chance you've seen one of the hundred reruns. Our Dutch relay team, featuring our own ‘Golden Ladies’ Femke Bol and Lieke Klaver, brought home the gold. The saying goes: ‘unlucky in the game, lucky in love’, but that doesn't apply to these women. They are not only the best runners in our country, but they also have super charming top athletes by their side.
The Belgian pole vaulter Ben Broeders is the lucky one who can call himself Femke Bol's boyfriend. This handsome guy is not in the stands cheering for his sweetheart, as he also belongs in the athletics arena. They met in 2020 while waiting for their flight home at the airport in Sweden. When they ran into each other again at the hotel where they were staying for another athletics competition, they decided to exchange numbers. And the deal was sealed. After the games, they will even move in together, but fortunately, it will be in the Netherlands, because we certainly don't want to lose Femke.

As for Lieke & Terrence: if I were to encounter this couple in the wild, I would really stop and stare, because how good-looking are they together! It's not surprising that it was love at first sight: they found each other immediately attractive, and the rest is history. Terrence Agard is also a top sprinter, so he knows exactly what Lieke is going through right now. Unfortunately, he didn't qualify for the Games this year, so he is probably supporting her even more. When they got to know each other, Lieke was only 18, while Terrence was 26. They kept their relationship a secret from their fellow athletes at the training complex where they both trained for quite a while. Whether that was due to the age difference is not entirely clear. But by now, they have been together for 8 years, so it doesn't really matter anymore.
