This horror film made even the actor nauseous

By

If one thing can keep me awake it's scary clowns and films with gallons of blood, but if you like horror then you just can't get enough of it. It may all be deliciously creepy and nasty, and that is certainly the case in the latest horror film ‘Terrifier 3’. This one turns out to be so intense that many viewers can't even keep the popcorn down. Even the actor had trouble with certain scenes, which is when you know things are really serious.

Art the Clown

‘Terrifier 3’ is a film in the series about a serial killer known as Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) . After teenager Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) manages to escape Art in the second film, she tries to rebuild her life in the post-Halloween period and look ahead to Christmas. What she doesn't know is that the clown is after her again. And this time he has an accomplice with it: the possessed Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi). Everything and everyone who gets in the way of their plans is horribly murdered.

To make you sick

The ‘Terrifier’ films fall under the slasher film genre; a subgenre of horror known for storylines about serial killers who stalk their victims and kill them in rather lurid ways. Whereas the first two parts were already found to be quite violent, this latest version adds to that. At several screenings, barf bags were on hand and they proved to be really necessary. In some cinemas, people walked away after the first scene and some even fainted. In the Netherlands, the film can be watched from the age of 16, although the recommended age is 18. In France, they have tightened it up, which they don't do easily, there you really can only watch this film from the age of 18. That's how intense it is.

‘Art’ himself also struggled

That this film really isn't nothing was already apparent during filming. Actor David Howard Thorton himself was given quite a hard time during one of the scenes he had to play as Art. In the scene in question, his character had to feed one of his victims live rats. The idea alone is terrible and for David, too, this almost went too far. With great difficulty, he managed not to vomit. Nor could he briefly turn on his stand-in because his face was full on screen, so he had to move on. From the side, his make-up artist shouted that he really had to keep it in or else the hours of make-up would have to be done all over again.

I think I'll skip ahead, but for those who still want to indulge in it, ‘Terrifier 3’ is now showing in cinemas.
