In ’the Apprentice’ you see exactly how Trump went crazy

By

When I heard that there was an arthouse film about Trump playing in the cinema, I wasn't exactly jumping at the chance to sit down and watch it. Even though it's fiction, it's based on the true story of Trump. The film shows the beginning of his professional life, how he managed to work his way up to become an important businessman, and everything he had to do for that. Let's put it this way: it's not like he had much trouble using others for his own gain.

So, well, when someone asked if I wanted to go to this film, I wasn't immediately enthusiastic.

I really didn't feel like watching a sort of glorification of Trump as a ‘businessman’ for two hours, while I am quite convinced that he mainly relies on his big talk. To be honest, I mainly went along because I recognized the actor playing Trump (Sebastian Stan) from one of the best series ever made. I know Sebastian as Carter Baizen in ‘Gossip Girl’. In principle, Sebastian is just playing a bad guy again in this film in the rich lifestyle of New York. And that was the decisive reason for me to sit down for this film.

Actually, you see a narcissist becoming more and more narcissistic for two hours.

If you already dislike Trump, I must warn you. It is 100% certain that you will increasingly get annoyed by his irritating mouth, strange statements, and false elbow work throughout the film. The more successful he becomes, the more antisocial he behaves. Ultimately, he uses his family, friends, and even his wife Melania just has to keep her mouth shut and look pretty. But we also ultimately see that nothing is as it seems. I didn't expect it, but I had to shed a small tear towards the end of the film. But rest assured: it wasn't out of compassion for Trump. Although I didn't necessarily need two hours to realize that something has gone wrong in Trump's head.
