When does a little cheating become a serious affair? Well, that's quite simple. As soon as you start having feelings, end up in bed with the same person more than once, and when you also text, call, or flirt with them, well... Then the dam is broken.

What age is sensitive for women? What does science say about affairs, cheating, and especially in which phase of our lives we want this? When should we be careful not to give in to those desires?

Research on relationship behavior shows that women are often more susceptible to starting an affair around a specific life stage. This happens most often in women between the ages of 30 and 45. There are several reasons why women in this age group are more likely to start an affair:

Change in life stages: around this age, many women experience a shift in priorities. Your life shifts to a phase where you feel more space to explore your own needs and desires. You are allowed to be there again. You count again. You’ve had those years with bottles and pacifiers, you’re back. And more attractive, sexier, and more confident than ever. You know what you want and you’re going to get it.
Reflection on their relationship: for women between 30 and 45 years old, there is often a reflection on where they stand in their relationship and life. After all those years of marriage or just a long relationship, the need may arise to rediscover their own identity, especially if there is a feeling that the relationship is stuck or the romance has diminished. You know each other well. It’s a bit boring. Yes, it’s still good, you know. But also a bit boring. And what if a new guy suddenly looks at you differently? Loves you? Then you become weak.
Hormonal changes: the years leading up to menopause (also known as perimenopause) come with a lot of hormonal changes. And these can amplify feelings and desires, making some women more inclined to seek new excitement or validation outside their relationship. They have a libido again, after those lean years. How exciting is it then, a new body, a new sex partner.

But oh dear, always be careful. You never know how long that grass on the other side stays green, right... It will surely rain there too. So know what you’re throwing away at home when you start cheating.
