Yolanthe Cabau gets her own reality series

It had been a while since there was much news about Yolanthe Cabau. After her breakup with Wesley Sneijder in 2019, she moved to Los Angeles with her son Xess Xava. In the meantime, she is working on her acting career there. However, she will soon be back in the Dutch spotlight. Netflix is coming out with the first Dutch reality series: ‘Yolanthe’. Before we can enjoy that, let’s take a quick look at her turbulent love life and career.

‘Everything is gone’ and the kiss in the parking garage

One of her most talked-about relationships is definitely the one with Jan Smit. From 2007 to 2009 they were together, until Yolanthe was spotted with Wesley Sneijder. Gerda Smit, Jan's mother, had quite a bit to say about the breakup. In an interview with Shownieuws, she spoke the now-famous words: “everything is gone,” after which she listed all the belongings that Yolanthe supposedly took with her. After that, the relationship with Wesley began. Their first date was in the Amsterdamse Bos, in a borrowed car with a bottle of wine. They didn’t want to meet too much in public to avoid publicity. That the media was on top of them became clear when the two were spotted kissing in a parking garage a while later. The images went viral and everyone knew about their relationship. The couple eventually married in 2010 and had their son Xess Xava in 2015.

From Costa! to Hollywood

In the meantime, Yolanthe was also working on her acting career. One of her first roles was in the Dutch romcom ‘Snowfever’. She then played guest roles in ‘Costa!’, ‘Onderweg naar Morgen’ and ‘Flikken Maastricht’. She voiced characters in the animated films Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3 and worked as a presenter on ‘Temptation Island Vips’ and ‘Expeditie Poolcirkel’. Besides her career in the Netherlands, Yolanthe also took on roles abroad. She appeared in the Turkish film ‘Polis Akademisi: Alaturka’ and in the United States, she starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the film ‘Pain & Gain’. During her growing success, Yolanthe founded the organization ‘Free a Girl’. The organization is dedicated to freeing girls worldwide from sexual exploitation.

Out of the Netherlands

Yolanthe has been living in LA for a number of years now, where she has also taken on various film roles. However, her career was not the main reason she left the Netherlands. After her breakup with Wesley, Yolanthe was even more under a microscope. Even when she just took her son to school, photos were taken. Images circulated of Wesley destroying a car while drunk. Yolanthe constantly had to explain to her son why everyone was talking about his parents. She wanted peace for both of them and had always had a good feeling about Los Angeles. Family lives there and there are plenty of job opportunities. Since then, she has been working on various projects in America, but she still regularly returns for roles in the Netherlands.

‘Yolanthe’

Although there is no official release date yet, we will be able to watch the new reality series ‘Yolanthe’ sometime next year. In the series, we follow her move to and life in LA with her now 8-year-old son Xess Xava. Yolanthe gives a glimpse into her life as a mother, actress, and entrepreneur. We see the co-parenting with Wesley and her foundation also plays a role. According to Netflix, we will see Yolanthe like we have never seen her before. Well, that promises something, because we have seen a lot.
