You've probably been washing your hair wrong your whole life.

You probably wash your hair just like everyone else: first shampoo, then conditioner. That's how we all do it, and traditionally, that's also correct. But imagine you're in a hurry: do you skip shampoo or conditioner? Most would skip conditioner. But this is where it goes wrong. According to the latest hair washing method, we no longer just follow the golden rule of never skipping conditioner, but we are now actually using it before using shampoo. The roles are reversed. I know: shocking news, but it's life-changing. And I'm going to explain why.

It even has a name: the CWC method. The C stands for conditioner, the W stands for washing with shampoo, and the C stands for conditioner again. The method speaks for itself, but I'll explain it briefly: you start even before you step into the shower with a dollop of conditioner that you distribute over the length and ends of your hair. This is essential and actually the whole trick of the method. Conditioner protects the hair from detergents in shampoo. Detergents are great for an oily scalp, but not so great for your precious long locks. For this reason, applying conditioner provides the same cleansing effect as shampoo, but with just a bit more love so your hair doesn't dry out.

Then comes the supreme moment: wash day. Start by thoroughly brushing your hair so there are no tangles. Wet it, but before you automatically reach for your shampoo bottle, this time grab the conditioner. A small amount is already sufficient, and you distribute it again over the length and ends of your hair. Very important: do NOT apply conditioner to your scalp..

While the conditioner is soaking in, take a tiny bit of shampoo. Rub it well in your palms until it lathers and then distribute it over your entire scalp. Don't forget to include the spots behind your ear and in your neck, as those are often forgotten and get oily quickly.

And from now on, it gets easy: you rinse everything out at the same time. Once this is done, go through the length and ends of your hair with some conditioner one more time. Let it soak in for another minute and rinse it out. Flip's tip: for even shinier hair, a cold shower spray at the end is a trick you might want to try.

Dry your hair with a microfiber towel and style it with your favorite styling tool. You won't get your hair this soft anytime soon.
