Good news: this series of sequels are coming out in 2026

Some series just won't let us go. Not even when we've been waiting for a new season for three years, the cliffhanger still hurts, and we've forgotten who was with whom. For you, true binge-watcher, I bring some positive news: there are a lot of series returning next year. And just a few of our ultimate favorites are among them. Whether you're talking about royal dramas that we can't wait for (hello Máxima and Bridgerton) or Euphoria, that we are finally going to see again: these are the sequels we are already getting impatient about.
Our favorites
Máxima season 2 (March 14, Videoland)
Ring the bells, grab the nearest tissues, and settle in, because the new season of Máxima is finally here. If there's one thing I can enjoy, it's a good Dutch series. And Máxima 2? That's really next level. Season two promises a lot of good things. And if you thought we were going to get another sugary love story, you're at the wrong address. Drama is here, baby. From Máxima's well-known tear, the birth of the princesses to Prince Friso's skiing accident and criticism of the monarchy – everything, and I mean everything, will be covered.
Bridgerton season 4 (January 29, Netflix)
Yes, dear reader, it's true: Bridgerton season 4 is coming. And this time it's not Daphne, Anthony, or Colin, but Benedict – the creative member of the Bridgerton brood – that we will follow. We will finally see more of this handsome and mysterious artist. What's the season about? Well, we never know 100% for sure, but this is based on a book. So... we mostly know. This is the Cinderella story in the Bridgerton-series: Benedict meets Sophie at a masked ball. They fall head over heels for each other, but who is she? He doesn't know. While he searches for her, he encounters a servant who evokes very familiar feelings in him. I'm always up for some forbidden love, so if there's one series on this list I'm looking forward to, it's this one. Sorry not sorry.
Outlander season 8 (March 6 in America on STARZ, then on Ziggo and later on Netflix)
After seven long seasons, the love story of Jamie and Claire is finally coming to an end. In the eighth season, the American Revolutionary War follows the two to Fraser's Ridge. With new people coming in, the Frasers really have to ask themselves if they are willing to give up their home. Will they stay together? Or will family secrets drive them apart? According to showrunner Ronald D. Moore, we will finally uncover the big mystery like the fate of Faith and why Jamie can time travel: “You won't have to wait long, we give a lot of information right at the beginning of the season and we hope this carries you to the end. There's a lot of tension and drama, but there's also a lot of resolution.”
Honorable mentions
Yes, there are also some other series returning that we can't forget. For some, we've had to wait a bit, but boy – are we glad they're coming back.
Outerbanks season 5 (2026, Netflix)
After a lot of rumors, Outerbanks is really coming with their very last season. We don't know exactly when it will come out, but we are sure they will go out with a bang. We ended season four with a shock: JJ was (spoiler!) killed by his biological father, Chandler. Now that his friends want to take revenge, season five will obviously be about that. Co-creator Josh Pate said this season would be a redemption for JJ's character: “We know how much the fans love him and his death was an essential part of the story's architecture. We plan to really honor him.”
The hunting wives season 2 (2026, Netflix)
Move over Desperate Housewives, because in 2025 we got The Hunting Wives. In Netflix's mystery thriller, the southern United States becomes the backdrop for four murders – and our beloved friends are suspicious for some reason. After all those affairs and the great cliffhanger, we need to know what happens next. We don't know exactly when the season will come out, but we are sure it will be in 2026.
The Pitt season 2 (January 8, HBO)
After the immense success (including a real Emmy) of the hospital series The Pitt, season two could not be delayed. The series revolves around the Emergency Department in Philadelphia, where Dr. Wyles Robinavitch guides young students in his own unique way. The sequel begins ten months after the nerve-wracking finale. Showrunner R. Scott Gemill hinted that season two takes place during the Fourth of July weekend during a super long shift. “Exciting things are really going to happen. We're just going to tell a new story again.” Will Robby finally admit that he needs to seek help? We will see it all soon.
House of the dragon season 3 (HBO)
Game of Thrones knowing, we can expect a lot of big battles in the war between the Greens (pro-Aegon and Alicent Hightower) and the Blacks (pro-Rhaenyra Targaryen). The Green clan has a lot of manpower. They have that of the Lannisters, the Hightowers (with Daeron and dragon Tessarion) and the Triarchy fleet. The Blacks now have six dragons, the Starks, and the Velaryons. That's going to promise a fierce war. If you thought season 2 was about war, then I have news: that was just the beginning. Season 3 is full-on war.
Euphoria season 3 (HBO)
Finally. After three long years, we are finally getting the continuation of Euphoria. After that hell of a show from Lexi and Maddie and Cassie's catfight, I'm very curious about what we will see again. Is Rue not still $10,000 guilty to her drug dealer Laurie because she didn't sell the suitcase full of drugs? Now that Jules has flushed all that down the toilet, it's not going to end well. Season three starts a few years after the events of season 2. The teenagers are no longer teenagers, but young adults. Is Rue still clean? And how have the characters developed outside of high school? We are going to see a much darker and deeper side of them. We're no longer in kindergarten, but in the real hard life of adults.
The Night Agent season 3 (February 19, Netflix)
Are you in for a good spy series? Then this is your lucky day: The Night Agent is coming back to Netflix. Although Rose Larkin is not returning, we are of course going to see a lot of drama. What happens to Peter after the end of season 2? He goes after a rogue agent who has stolen sensitive information. This brings him onto the trail of a dangerous network of assassins, a whole lot of money, and a terribly determined journalist in Istanbul who has uncovered various government secrets. Are you ready to go to Mexico City and the Dominican Republic with Peter? I am.
The boys season five (Prime Video)
At the end of season four, the threat of The Seven grew larger and larger. The war is about to begin, especially now that Homelander cares about no one but his son. The Butcher has finally cracked and told The Boys about the virus he has. Together they are going to take down Homelander once and for all. We are going to get a bomb of action and of course some surprises. Will The Boys manage to defeat Homelander and the rest of The Seven? I don't know. What we do know is that not everyone will make it to the end of season five... Oh no.
Ginny & Georgia season 4
After all that explosive information at the end of season three, I really don't know how we are going to hold out until season four. Now that Georgia has avoided a murder charge, everything is back to ‘normal’. Aside from the fact that they are poor again and Georgia is pregnant with – or... Who is she actually pregnant with? Yes, that's the question. We are far from done with Georgia's criminal past, as that always seems to follow her. In this new season, we will finally learn more about Georgia's family. What has she been through? And Ginny? She wants to break the chaos and lead a normal life. After her mental struggles, she wants to get better. And Austin? He's not doing well either.
The Gentlemen 2 (2026, Netflix)
Theo James in a British series? I won't say no to that. Now that we saw him become the new duke of Halstead, Eddie (Theo) also got custody of his father's weed farm. Now that Eddie has turned into a true crime king in the weed industry, we will see in season two how he and his partner in crime Susie are ambushed by new players in the field. Will Eddie and Susie ever fall for each other? Yes, we will see that.
Virgin River season 7 (March, Netflix)
Mel and Jack start their married life on their farm after their wedding. Is there a brand new baby on the way? That's the question, but in Virgin River, happiness always comes hand in hand with challenges. Will that new life together actually go well? And what is the family history of Hope McCrea? Now that her ex-husband Roland has returned, we will finally unravel the mystery surrounding the house and her roots. And of course, there are plenty of little dramas in the lives of the other residents: love triangles and family problems are abundant again.
So there are really a lot of good sequels coming. Are we going to dive into all of them? Well, that's our good resolution for 2026 so... you can fill that in yourself.
