While Diddy prepares for his trial from prison, his image in the outside world takes another hit. Former acquaintances of the rapper turn against him in the new documentary ‘Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy’. The doc tells the story of his rise in the music industry, up to the current case. And if we are to believe the trailer, serious accusations are coming to light.

The cesspool is (further) opened

“Sean Combs is a monster.” These are the first words from the trailer, and one thing is immediately clear: this doc is not going to do the rapper any favors. It’s a statement from Lisa Bloom, the lawyer representing several of Diddy’s accusers. She is not the only one speaking out. His once-loyal inner circle is now also sharing their experiences with the rapper; and they are not exactly positive. A former bodyguard, a childhood friend, an intern, and a winner of Diddy’s one-time TV series ‘Making the Band’ speak up. According to them, the rapper always knew exactly what he wanted: power and control. He determined what happened and what was made public. “As long as people were afraid of him, they would respect him,” says his former bodyguard. Diddy instilled fear among those around him. “I didn’t want to be near him when there were no cameras,” is heard in the trailer. The documentary also contains footage of the infamous partying of Diddy; details about the nights are revealed. “Every time a studio or room was red, he had sex. Some of the girls in the room were definitely underage,” says one of the attendees.

Diddy continues to deny

Not very surprising of course, but according to Diddy, there is nothing true about the statements in the documentary. In a statement, his legal team says there is no evidence for any of the claims and they accuse the creators of wanting to negatively influence the process. “It is very disturbing how such stories can influence public perception and undermine the legal process. Mr. Combs deserves his day in court with an impartial jury, free from the stain of these unfounded claims,” say Diddy’s lawyers. Nevertheless, the rapper's team seems not too worried and remains confident in their case. “The facts will be discussed in court, where the truth – and not fiction – will prevail.”

‘Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy’ will be available from January 14 on the American streaming service Peacock. Where and when we can watch all the revelations here in the Netherlands is still unknown. To be continued therefore.
