If there’s one thing you learn from following series, it’s to have patience. With often one or even two years between seasons, we are quite put to the test. But as soon as that familiar ‘ta dum’ sound of the Netflix intro plays again, the frustrations of the long wait disappear immediately. Good news for all ‘Ginny & Georgia’ fans, the third season is finally on its way. The release date is finally known; and with the first images, speculation can begin again.

Just a recap

Before we can fully immerse ourselves in season 3, let’s take a quick look back at where we last saw the mother-daughter duo. Such a recap is quite welcome after two years of waiting. In the second season of ‘Ginny & Georgia’, it seemed that the Millers had finally found some more peace. Ginny has been able to make amends with her friends and the MANG gang is back together. However, her relationship with Marcus remains difficult. Austin discovers the challenging home situation of his bully Zach and the two become friends. This brings their mothers Georgia and Cynthia Fuller closer together again; and although the two are not really happy about it at first, that changes quickly when Gil suddenly shows up on the doorstep. We learn more about the violent past between him and Georgia, and when Cynthia finds out about this, she protects her new friend by ensuring that Gil cannot get a house in Wellsbury. With the growing threat from her ex, Georgia falls back into old patterns, wanting to run away from her future husband Paul and keep everything from her past a secret. Still, Ginny manages to convince her mother to be honest this time. Now that everything is on the table, the wedding seems to be a perfect day. Until the first dance is abruptly interrupted and Georgia is taken away by the police for the murder of Tom Fuller. Austin tries to run after the car and swears that he hasn’t told anyone about that night with Tom, but it’s no use. Everyone is left in confusion.

What now?

For two years we have been wondering: how will it continue after this huge cliffhanger? We finally get the answer on June 5. And although there is no trailer yet, the first photos already give us enough to speculate about. Season 3 picks up shortly after we last saw the characters. Georgia has been arrested and will have to appear in court. We already know that she is guilty, so it will be quite a task to get out of this. And will Ginny still be able and willing to help her mother after yet another scandal? That’s not the only thing we will see this season, according to the new showrunner Sarah Glinski, we will also learn more about other characters. “We will dive deeper into other relationships – some we have seen before, and some we haven’t.” These new relationships might have something to do with the characters Wolf, a classmate of Ginny, and Tris, who is friends with Marcus, and Silver, both of whom have been added for this upcoming season, so it’s still a wait-and-see what that will mean. According to the creators, this will be the most intense season yet, and we can prepare for a lot of emotions, tension, and a heavy (legal) battle. So keep that calendar free.
