The favorite podcasts of the Amayzine editorial team

Here at the editorial office, we can definitely relate: to listening to podcasts. In fact, if we were to set up a microphone in the Amayzine office, we would have had a hit podcast ourselves. But hey, not everyone wants to hear us talk about which perfume we are wearing or who has been spotted with whom in the Jordaan.
So if you find yourself with an empty playlist on the train after the tragic end of ‘Broers’ (you can read more about it here), i got you. I gathered the favorite podcasts of the Amayzine editorial team. From juicy celebrity interviews to historical stories that are actually interesting (sorry, high school textbook).
So-Called Successful
Lysanne's favorite
First up: In So-Called Successful, hosts Anke de Jong and Julia Mekkes dive into themes like fear of failure, love dramas, and the eternal search for balance (yes, hello: what is that anyway?) with a lot of humor and especially without a filter.
‘Relatable life events with a lot of humor and self-mockery, sometimes a bit awkward and so spontaneous that they even ask each other: “Can I say this already?”’, says Lysanne. Perfect to listen to when you’re overthinking: “Am I the only one who doesn’t have everything in order?” Spoiler: you’re not alone.
Call Her Daddy
Isabel's favorite
Believe me: if Isabel recommends something, it must be a good suggestion. ‘Super chill American chick, interviews everyone… from Khloé Kardashian to Simone Biles & Chappell Roan to Hailey Bieber. She has dry humor, is super honest, and everyone really shares everything you ever wanted to know,’ says Isabel.
Need she say more? This is the podcast you put on while walking, exercising, or while doing your skincare. Let your hot girl walk begin, because there’s also hot girl tea in this podcast (and not just a little): each episode lasts about an hour.
Monday Complaint Day
Jan's favorite
Why does Jan come to the office every Monday morning with a big smile? Because of the podcast he listens to every morning on the train. Well, now we all want to know what he listens to to beat his morning mood: Maandag Klaagdag.
No woke babble or deep conversations, just complaining about little things that you actually have to laugh too hard about. Robbert Rodenburg and Daan Hoogervorst discuss a listener's complaint together and really get into it.
Daphne on Thursday
May's favorite
Okay, you have to save this for your weekly Thursday morning walk or that hour in the car on the way to work. Every Thursday, a new episode is released and Daphne Deckers receives an inspiring guest – May has even been a guest once (how fun?).
May says: “Really a fun podcast where Daphne invites someone to her writing house every Thursday. They are always interesting women, like recently Astrid Holleeder and Trijntje Oosterhuis.” Whether you are single, a mother, a CEO, or all of the above: this is a delightful podcast that you can easily listen to – but do it with a nice blanket and a glass of wine.
History Inside
Danielle's favorite
‘History? Boringgg,’ I hear you thinking. But if it’s up to Danielle, that is anything but the case with this podcast: “Delicious real history stories about, among others, the life of Mata Hari, Coco Chanel & Mother Teresa. Especially Mother Teresa, because she has unjustly a good name but was anything but a saint. Mega interesting!”
This is the podcast to give your intelligence an extra boost and to listen to during those boring hours at the gym. You learn something, you hear juicy stories, and you immediately feel like an intellectual queen. Love it.
Your favorite podcast
My favorite
And finally, one from myself (Keesje). My favorite podcast is… ‘your favorite podcast’. Yup, confusing right:). How would I describe it? Something like: Eavesdropping on a conversation of a group of friends on the train and thinking: ‘What was this about?“
Every Monday, an episode of more than half an hour is released on Spotify. In each episode, a viewer's question (“What is your favoriteeee…”) is answered and Sean, Stefan, and Julia discuss their favorite. It might be a bit mind-numbing, I admit, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. I put it on when I’m on my way to work or when I’m tidying up my room. Believe me, you won’t stop laughing at Julia and it really feels like you’re in the middle of the conversation with the three.
