HBO Max alert: this is the new spin-off of Young Sheldon
All hands in the air for everyone who Young Sheldon is binging – yes, I am guilty of it too and find this series really hilarious. If you – like me – have already seen all the episodes more than twice, it might be time for us to kick the habit. And let this be the perfect moment to do so: since April 3, a continuation of the series 'Young Sheldon' has been available on HBO Max. For everyone who secretly has a crush on Sheldon's brother, I have good news, in binge-watching is – ja, ik ben er zelf ook schuldig aan en vind deze serie echt hilarisch. Als je – net als ik – alle afleveringen al meer dan twee keer hebt gezien, is het misschien tijd voor ons om af te kicken. En laat dit nou het perfecte moment zijn om dat te kunnen doen: sinds 3 april staat er namelijk een vervolg van de serie ‘Young Sheldon’ op HBO Max. Voor iedereen die stiekem een crush heeft op de broer van Sheldon heb ik goed nieuws, in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage he is seen even more often.
What we saw in Young Sheldon
The series is set in the late 80s, early 90s. The story follows Sheldon, a smart boy, who is already attending high school at the age of 8. In the series, we not only follow him but also his family. Mandy McAllister was a 29-year-old woman who met Georgie Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's brother) in Meemaw’s Laundromat – also known as the secret gambling room – in season 5 of the series. Georgie was 17 when he met Mandy, but lied about his age and told Mandy he was old enough to date her. After the two went on a date and jumped into bed, Mandy became pregnant. The Cooper household was turned upside down, but Mandy temporarily moved in because she was not getting along with her parents – especially her mother – after she revealed she was pregnant by a teenager. The whole neighborhood was against the Cooper family after the announcement of the pregnancy caused by 17-year-old Georgie. This was because Mary Cooper (Georgie's mother) was a good Christian who worked in the local church. Georgie's mother is very religious and believes that the two should get married. It may not have happened in the right order, but at least they are married now that they have a child together.
CeeCee, the baby of Georgie and Mandy, is born and Mandy's parents try to be more involved in raising the baby. Things seem to be getting better between Mandy and her mother, and after they temporarily moved in with the Coopers, it was time for the two to move in with the McAllisters with the baby – at least here they will have their own sleeping and bathroom.
What’s new: Georgie and Mandy’s first marriage
In the spin-off, we see how everyone is doing after the tragic accident (in the last episode of Young Sheldon). Georgie and Mandy’s first marriage takes us into the lives of the two and we see how they have moved in with the McAllisters with their newborn baby. Georgie is confronted with the responsibilities that come with fatherhood, he tries to do everything right for his new family, but clashes with the reality of how difficult this can be. Mandy is looking for a new job as weathergirl and tries to get her life back on track, but this is not easy to achieve. This – somewhat forced – marriage is a hilarious and engaging story and as a Young Sheldon fan, it’s fun to see the main characters from the series appear in this new one.
The perfect, messy and relatable combination: Mandy wanting to chase her dreams while holding a baby in her hands and Georgie doing everything he can to support his family. You have to see this and believe me, you will be in stitches and occasionally shed a tear
