This is where you eat the most expensive pancake in the country

Admittedly, the cheese-and-bacon pancake is no longer the most exciting choice you can make. From spinach pancakes to pancake cake and from fluffy pancakes to risotto pancakes, the possibilities are endless. So why not jazz it up with – just to name something – 22-karat gold leaf? That’s what they thought at MOAK Pancakes. There, they serve a pancake called the Golddigger, which comes with quite a price tag.
Anyway, it’s already a super smart idea to start a pancake restaurant if you want to get filthy rich. The pancake restaurant is, after all, our national favorite. If you put something like the Golddigger on the menu, you can swim in money as a pancake maker.
A Golddigger for the gold diggers among us
How much do you actually pay for this eye-catching creation? € 100. With that, you could indeed also buy a pretty nice pair of shoes or a multi-course dinner at a very fine restaurant.
If you have to dig deep into your pockets anyway, it’s only logical that you want to know exactly what you’re getting. Well, literally a pancake in gold digger style! The 22-karat gold leaf is the most striking addition, but there’s even more over the top. On a stack of three blueberry pancakes, melted pink ruby chocolate is poured. That stack is then topped with raspberries, blackberries, edible flowers, and pineapple caramelized in maple syrup. Additionally, you get a scoop of saffron pistachio ice cream and a glass of Luc Belaire Rosé champagne. Plus, and this really makes it ‘gold digger’: everything is served on a Versace plate with Versace cutlery.
Luxury and more-more-more
The Golddigger has been on the menu at MOAK Pancakes. Yet it still fits into the trend of luxury and more-more-more, which we have been craving for a while. Just think of the luxurious (absurdly expensive) fruits that are becoming increasingly popular these days. Or the freakshakes: milkshakes with over-the-top (many) toppings.
€ 100, so with this extreme pancake, you can feel like a real gold digger for a moment. I do realize that it’s quite unfortunate if that first pancake fails; a dreaded phenomenon in baking. Oh well, the pancake itself is probably the cheapest part of this dish.
Too much money and gold digger vibes all over? You can order the Golddigger at MOAK Pancakes on Jodenbreestraat 144 and Ferdinand Bolstraat 11 in Amsterdam, and at Vinkenburgstraat 15 in Utrecht. Let us know if it’s worth € 100?
