Already drama about the latest season of MAFS Australia

Sorry, not sorry but ‘Married At First Sight Australia’ is really one of my favorite shows. I can't call it a guilty pleasure, because I don't really feel guilty about it anymore. Just a little longer to wait and we can finally enjoy the twelfth season. And all the drama has already begun, fans are even threatening to boycott the show.

Everything for the ratings

At MAFS here in the Netherlands, all participants sign up voluntarily and go through a long selection process. In Australia, it works a bit differently. A large part of the singles is cast by the producers. They are approached via Instagram, at events, or even on the street with the question of whether they want to participate. Although this has been the case for years and is no longer a secret for many people, the selection team seems to have really messed up this year. After the announcement of the ‘cast’ of season 12, the first reactions were good. Especially the variation in age, and that this was on average a bit higher than early twenties, was a big plus. But that joy quickly turned into irritation, and that was mainly about two candidates: Paul and Sierah. What exactly is the problem? Both have already participated in a reality dating show once. Sierah on ‘The Bachelor’ and Paul on ‘The Real Love Boat’, a kind of ‘Love Island’ but on a boat. According to fans, they were only cast to boost the show's ratings and grow their own social media. Ordinary Australians who are really looking for love are now not getting a chance. And the fans absolutely do not agree with that. But unfortunately, the recordings are long over and we will just have to wait and see how Sierah, Paul, and the other candidates have done.

Drama all over

Every year, the producers try to entice us with the ‘it's going to be the most intense season ever’ promise to watch again; and honestly, they always manage to do that. But if we are to believe all the rumors, they might actually make that promise come true this season. For example, one groom reportedly stepped out of the show just a few hours after saying 'I do', and several followed couples already in the first week. And if the producers thought they were done with all the drama after the recordings, they will be quite disappointed now. According to the rumor mill, one of the successful couples has since put an end to it. The entire team of ‘MAFS Australia’ is now in damage control mode and has already spent quite a few hours in crisis meetings to keep the course of the program a secret. Whether all the rumors are true and who it is exactly about, is still a wait and see. This will be something.

‘Married At First Sight Australia’ season 12 will be available on Videoland from February 28.
