Always in a panic when your battery is just not completely full? And you take a half-empty phone with you because you still have to go to pilates or dinner in the evening? From now on, you will always have a full battery. Because it's that simple once you know it. The 20-80 trick is perfect for iPhones and also for Androids, so be smart.

This way your battery will always last longer.

And the idea is very simple: you no longer charge your phone to a hundred percent. That sounds crazy, but it's not good for your battery. Especially not if you do it at night, and your battery is therefore plugged in for hours and hanging at that 100% for hours. It's better for your phone if you never have it at 100% and also never at zero percent: never totally full, and never completely empty. It takes some getting used to, but it's better if you always stay between the 20% battery and the 80% battery. Plug it back in around 20 percent or a little below.

Okay, how do you keep track of your battery not charging to more than 80%? There are apps that give a signal while charging when your battery level hits 80%. You can then immediately unplug it. For Android, AccuBattery is a handy app, and for the iPhone, the Battery Life app is spot on. Ha. We told you: easy trick, but you do need to know it. And also: this is definitely very important if you just got a new phone. With an older model, it’s probably already too late, but with a new one, you just handle it this way from now on.
