Jay-Z can breathe a sigh of relief

After months of rumors about his involvement in Diddy-gate, an official charge was brought against Jay-Z at the end of December. He was accused of drugging and abusing a girl who was 13 years old at the time, together with Diddy in 2000. It soon became clear that the case was falling apart from all sides . The rapper was determined to prove his innocence, and it seems he has succeeded.. De rapper was dan ook vastbesloten om zijn onschuld te bewijzen, en dat lijkt dus nu gelukt.

Jane Doe withdraws

The woman from Alabama, who was referred to as Jane Doe due to her anonymity, has decided to drop her charges against Jay-Z and P. Diddy. According to official documents, she is doing this voluntarily and the case has now been dismissed with prejudice, meaning that the woman cannot sue the two rappers again in the future. The news is, of course, a huge relief for Jay-Z. In a statement on behalf of his record label Roc Nation, he said: “Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious, and outrageous allegations have been dismissed. This civil lawsuit was baseless and would never lead anywhere.” Diddy’s team is also pleased; they still claim that the rapper has never sexually abused or assaulted anyone. According to them, the dismissal of this case is just the beginning. “Just like this allegation, the other allegations will fall apart because there is no truth in them.”

Not quite an end

Although Jay-Z is happy that the case has been dismissed, he is not letting it go entirely, and there is a clear reason for that: “The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones, and I have endured can never be ignored.” The rapper is particularly angry at Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for Jane Doe. Jay-Z accuses him of deliberately filing the lawsuit just before the premiere of ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, in which both Beyoncé and their daughter Blue Ivy starred, forcing him to choose between supporting his family and avoiding the media. Jay-Z now reveals that Buzbee had already sent him two demand letters in November. One regarding the now-withdrawn complaint and one about an anonymous man who he allegedly abused in 2016. The second letter never led to an official case. In response, the rapper filed an extortion lawsuit against the lawyer, initially anonymously but later under his own name. He is now allowing this case to proceed because he believes the letters and allegations are a threat to his reputation, career, family, and everything he has worked hard for in his life. In his statement, he writes: “The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while the courts, with the same ethical responsibility, must protect the innocent from accusations without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those who have been wrongfully accused.” Buzbee does not seem to be particularly afraid of the lawsuit: “We expect this lawsuit, which is baseless, to be dismissed.” To be continued.
