This is the bizarrely cool house of Kendall Jenner

By

Did you think Kendall Jenner has such a boring, white house with only minimalist furniture? Then you are so wrong. This girl has nothing to do with sterile walls, but a cozy atmosphere. Next to her LA villa and Montecito ranch is now her cozy mountain getaway the stage of Architectural Digest. They visited her house on the prairie for a ‘New Open Door’ episode. And honestly? It is really bi-zar beautiful. If I could, I would pack my bags right now and move in immediately... But yeah, that’s not possible. A girl can dream. So we’ll just enjoy watching, who knows you might get some home inspiration.

It is, spoiler alert, grandma-chic

Whether you walk in the hallway, living room, or kitchen: everywhere you look, there is an explosion of textures. Think of a wall filled with old paintings, a floral sofa with a green blanket, and a marble backsplash in the kitchen. Doesn’t that clash? No, not at all. It might sound a bit like a little girl pulled her mother’s interior magazines out of the closet and spread them all over the room, but that’s not the case. Actually, it all fits perfectly together. That’s due to Kendall’s sense of style and designer Heidi Caillier’s clever brain. Together they combined their strengths to bring out that old grandma cottage feel.

This house built from the ground up comes directly from Kendall’s brainwaves: “I wanted an explosion of patterns, materials, and textures.” You can see that at a glance. In the living room alone, you have an explosion of materials: green and brown checkered chairs, a dark brown round side table, an iron flower lamp, wooden panels, a wicker basket. Everything is there. Including old thrift store books. Her favorite item in this room is her sofa: “We made this sofa very large so that it is extremely comfortable and cozy. I even tested it to make sure it was perfect. We chose a shiny cotton fabric. It is so bold, really beautiful. I have always dreamed of an exotic, crazy sofa that really makes a statement in the living room. This one fits perfectly.‘ And really, people: this sofa is so big, the entire Kardashian and Jenner family can fit on it.

Very different from her sisters

According to Kendall, there were no rules in designing her house. “We are in the mountains, I wanted to convey that rugged feeling.” That is a very different idea than her sisters' house. Kim’s West Coast Mansion, for example, has so much white that you could go blind from it. It is sleek, clean, and super modern. And Khloé? She has a beige paradise. Her organized pantry could have been Marie Kondo’s in terms of how neat it is. Those different shades of beige are reflected in the home theater, walk-in closet, living room, and even her bedroom. There isn’t much color to be found. Kourtney is not much different. Here you see a lot of neutral tones like white, dark brown, and (guess what) beige.

Kendall does not follow in their footsteps, as her farmhouse-style house is quite different. Such a kitchen with a dark wooden island could easily be found in a country house. And sorry, but have you seen that fridge? It’s really insane. I repeat: in-sane. The kitchen cabinets are in the same wood with a marble countertop. With a light blue gas stove that costs more than five times your rent. That’s going on my Pinterest board. This style is reflected in her bedroom, guest room(s), and bathroom(s).

Personally, I think the burgundy bathroom is the most beautiful, but that green one is also something. If I love anything, it’s a retro feeling and you definitely get that here. By combining different colors, it creates a playful whole that just works. Yes, also checkered tiles. While her own bedroom is somewhat simple, that bunk bed guest room is anything but that. She herself goes for a calm wallpaper and dark blue colors, but those bunk beds are all different. Think of it as a bed nook with four alcoves where friends and family can sleep. That is the ultimate pajama party?

If you thought that house didn’t have enough guest rooms (because there are really hundreds of them. Okay, just kidding), then you forget one. In the backyard, there’s one on wheels. Yes, seriously. She got this compact single-axle caravan a few years ago for her birthday and logically made it the third guest room. Even if you want to sleep in the backyard, Kendall has a spot for you.

From the outside, this is a simple silver thing, but inside? A 70s retro dream. This green little palace has a warm brown wooden interior. You can see that in the walls (duh) and the sideboard. That typical olive green is everywhere you look and the golden details make it all just a bit prettier. Secretly, that green is my favorite color, so I know where I would want to sleep in Kendall’s mountain villa. Whether that bath is really nice is another question… But hey, then you really have the ‘I’m in the mountains’ experience. And at least there’s heating, a working toilet, and outlets, so it’s not really off the grid. When I think of staying in the mountains, a van like that would come to mind. So our Jenner thought that through well.

So yes, for those who didn’t know that Kendall “was so cool like that”: this is for you. She sometimes seems like the most unproblematic Jenner ever. She just wants to go to her house in the mountains and play games with her friends. How wholesome can you get? Her house reflects that easy-going character. I’ve definitely gotten enough interior inspiration, for sure.
