Liberation Pop; the drama of S10 and the glory of Roxy Dekker

It was supposed to be such a legendary day. Liberation Pop Haarlem, sunshine, a day off on Monday, and a lineup to lick your fingers at. Everyone ready for a long weekend full of music, freedom, and above all: partying. But then it happened. S10 and Senna suddenly removed from the program. What on earth happened? I dove in and will tell you everything: from the backstage dramas to the heroes who stood up.

S10 cancels: a heartbreaking reason

The first blow: S10. She was supposed to perform at another Liberation Festival but had to cancel for sad reasons. A short message appeared on Instagram: “I can't be there today. My family needs me.”

It soon became clear what was going on: her twin brother had fallen from a building – or jumped – and was critically injured in intensive care. A source close to the family said: “It’s critical. She rushed to the hospital and we don’t know how this will end.”

And then you suddenly understand everything. The silence. The cancellation. The panic. Because how can you stand on a stage while your brother fights for his life? Fans reacted en masse with support: “We are thinking of you, S10. Take your time.”

Senna and the fight: how?!

And then there was Senna. Canceled at the last minute, but immediately trending on social media. The reason? A fight. According to multiple sources, Senna got involved in a scuffle at a café in Amsterdam, the night before Liberation Pop. “It got out of hand. He didn’t even want to participate, but got dragged in,” a friend told the AD anonymously.

The footage that circulated (because yes, everyone films everything nowadays) showed a chaotic scene, but Senna himself later responded on Instagram: “I’m okay. This should never have happened. I take my responsibility and hope we can put this behind us.”

Who jumped in?

The organization had to act quickly to fill the gaps in the program. For S10, singer Hanna Mae stepped in, while Senna was replaced by a local rapper. This way, all stages could still be filled and the party could continue.

Roxy Dekker makes the festival legendary after all

Roxy Dekker had been announced for months as the main act and traveled to multiple festivals on Liberation Day. In Haarlem, she worked like a magnet. The Roxy Dekker effect was the talk of the day. “What is it with Roxy, everyone likes her. From girls to mothers in their 60s.” said a bystander. It got so busy that the organization had to close the gates: “It’s too full, we can’t let anyone else in.” Outside, hundreds of people were singing along.

“I didn’t know so many people would come,” Roxy said backstage, visibly overwhelmed. “But this is really the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced.”

How did it go further at Liberation Pop?

Despite the hectic and unexpected turns, it was a day to never forget. With a sunny 21 degrees, DJ sets added last minute, and an audience that gave it their all. “You felt the love and the sadness intertwined,” said a visitor. “It was a festival with a raw edge, but maybe that made it even more special.”

The moral of the story

What did Liberation Pop 2025 teach us? Sometimes everything goes differently. Sometimes big names drop out, sometimes drama unfolds, but in the end, it’s the surprises and togetherness that stick. Like a very young Roxy Dekker confirming her status as a superstar.
