Mays’ Puglia pearl is for rent
Does she fill a bottle of olive oil from her own land for you?

My love says he has no hobbies. No padel sessions for him or survival weekends with friends. But if you can call a country a hobby, then it's Italy. “There are people who were born in the wrong body, I was born in the wrong country” is a quote from Jarl van der Ploeg, who wrote a very nice book about his love for Italy, and my love can dangerously relate to that.
Because of Flo
Life goes on, blood crawls. Because of our Flo, for whom stability and recognition are important, we decided to drop our anchor in a fixed place. That became Puglia. And there we put all our free hours and love into. Because we find it a shame that our house is gathering dust all those 46 weeks that we are not there, we are renting out our Puglia pearl.
Villa Carmina
Our Villa Carmina is located in the heart of the heel, near the village of Carovigno. You could call the area a villa neighborhood. In the adjacent plots are beautiful, detached houses, so you have plenty of space and privacy. Our piece of land is almost 10,000 square meters, so you are certainly not on top of each other, but you are definitely not alone and isolated. What I love about Villa Carmina is the sea view. I can gaze for hours, preferably from the hammock we found in a shade of green that perfectly matches the olive trees. Or should I choose the kitchen, which has two refrigerators, one of which is fully reserved for drinks that of course all need to be enjoyed by the pool? Or on the rooftop terrace? Or on that cute bench by the front door?
Our house has three bedrooms, each with its own toilet and bathroom, of which I of course take the one with the bathtub. Two bedrooms open onto the terrace by the pool (with sea view as well) and the other bedroom has its own patio at the front of the house. The living room is huge, and we have done our best to collect the most beautiful furniture. That is not always easy in Italy, because it is either unaffordable sleek design or everything has a rhinestone and bows. The house has a huge garden and, always a lovely moment, such a large gate that slowly opens as you drive up.
Frequently asked questions:
- *You fly to Bari or Brindisi, and yes, renting a car is a must.
- The person doing the check-in will meet you somewhere in the village and guide you to the house, so you will definitely find it.
- There is wifi (also not always a certainty), and of course I provide hairdryers.
- The house is close to the beach and Carovigno is a great little town where you have everything you need: bakery, butcher, frutte e verdure, supermarket, a wine shop that brings boxes to your car and a beautiful center with worn sidewalks, cafés that could be in a Fellini film, and even a Michelin-starred restaurant.
- You are also close to Ostuni, which is a somewhat larger town and where there is also plenty to do.
- It is of course personal, but I always find the temperature pleasant, even in August. Because Puglia is located between two seas, there is always a breeze, so I never find it unbearably hot like I experienced in Florence for example.
- What you should know is that a car is a must. The house is wonderfully remote, you can really bike from our house to the beach, but if you want to go to the village, to the beach or just explore Puglia, a car is really necessary.
So if you need something to look forward to, visit our site, and who knows, I might fill your bottle with olive oil from my own land. I will at least prepare a nice bottle for you.
