What should you definitely not give as a surprise? Well, quite a lot, it turns out. Because yes, men often already have enough, and if they need something, they will buy it themselves. So they have no wishes. And you don't know what to buy.

It's quite nice when there's a gift under the Christmas tree, isn't it? But yes. If the best man already has enough, what do you score then?

You can better avoid a few things, they say researchers. The biggest mistake you can make? Clothing. Many men appreciate practical gifts, but clothing often turns out to be a mistake. A sweater in the wrong size, a shirt with a striking print, or socks that they “never wear anyway” often end up at the back of the closet. And they never wear it. Men are more critical than you think when it comes to clothing. They want exactly that one brand, in that one size, and not in that crazy blue color but in classy blue. Yes, try explaining that. This is how the male brain works: that one color is completely wrong. That other color is what they are looking for.

You think you know your man well, but when you give clothing as a gift , make sure to keep the receipt. Anyway, what do you give as a gift then? What are they happy with? It's quite simple. There are three rules:

1. Buy something that fits his hobbies, sports, or other interests. Is he into padel? Then padel balls are fine. Or padel socks. Or a racket. He'll be happy with that because it fits what he loves.

2. A gadget or something else technical is also almost always good. Men love gadgets and cords and those kinds of fun items. A corkscrew that automatically opens the bottle, you know. That idea.

3. And doing things together is also always quite fun. A day of beer tasting at a tasting event or a shooting lesson. Giving a voucher might seem a bit silly, but the experience (together) is really the most fun.
