New career for Irene Moors and Wim Kieft
Everything points to it

After each season of ‘The Perfect Picture’, I am just one click away from buying a good camera. All those shoots inspire me completely, because how fun is it to be able to take really beautiful photos? That the program really ignites the photography virus is also evident from the participants who can't let go of their camera after their adventure. Some even managed to become real professionals. In the new season, Irene Moors and Wim Kieft are participating, and I wouldn't be surprised if they, with their work ethic and the period in their lives where a fresh challenge fits, suddenly embark on a new career path after this participation.
The very first winner
In 2016, the first group of celebrities ventured into the field of photography. After seven episodes, presenter Humberto Tan managed to win the program, the starting shot of his career behind the camera. The love for photography was already in Humberto from an early age, partly due to his brother's modeling work. But his participation in the program was the motivation to really dive into it seriously now. He delved deeper into the technique and experimented with different genres. His two favorites: portraits and nature photography; two passions he has combined several times for the Red Cross and National Geographic. His Instagram is full of his own work; and there are quite a few gems among them.
A fruitful first season
This very first season not only meant a new passion for the winner: the numbers two and three, Kim Feenstra and Marco Borsato, also took serious steps in photography after the program. Kim also started with portraits and wildlife photos. Just a year after her participation, she had her first own exhibition ‘Through My Eyes’. Her next success didn't take long to arrive; in 2017 she became the regular photographer for Wendy van Dijk's magazine. In recent years, we have seen her several times as a photographer in ‘Holland's Next Top Model’. Together with photographer Cris de Bos, Kim started her own photo studio in 2021. Marco Borsato was already photographing when there were still rolls in the cameras; something that sounds very long ago to me. After ‘The Perfect Picture’, he wanted to keep using all the new knowledge and get even more serious with his camera. Marco immediately got to work and took the cover photos for the magazine ‘Focus’. He also traveled with photographer Raymond Rutting to Aruba to work on an exhibition. In 2018, he was on the jury of the National Geographic photography competition. A role that DI-RECT drummer Jamie Westland also got to fulfill in 2020, the winner of the fourth season. Although he is now mainly focusing on music again, we can still occasionally discover some snapshots on his Instagram.
The upside-down world
That you don't even have to reach the top three of the program to still become successful in photography was proven by model and presenter Paulien Huizinga. She was also in the first season and finished fourth there. It was the beginning of a whole new career. “When I started photographing, something happened to me; I discovered where my true passion lay,” Paulien told the magazine ‘Nouveau’. She left her TV work behind, converted an unused room into a studio, and followed a preparatory course at the photo academy. Thanks to ‘The Perfect Picture’, she discovered her favorite genres: portraits, nude and fashion photography. Meanwhile, her career is such a success that the roles have been reversed: Paulien was one of the guest jurors in the last season of the program. She now gave the tips and the criticism that ignited her passion.
A new season
Photography fans can start blocking their calendars again. From the spring, a new group of aspiring photographers will compete against each other in ‘The Perfect Picture On The Road’. Kim Kötter, Stefan Jurriens, Edson da Graça, Wim Kieft, Hila Noorzai, Irene Moors, Ferri Somogyi, and Sosha Duysker will travel to Italy in the hope of capturing the most beautiful pictures. And in bella Italia, that should definitely work out.
