Diddy is also pushed off the throne in prison
And he is anything but happy about it

If there is one thing we now know about Diddy him, it is that he loves power and attention. When he was arrested in September, he was the most famous inmate in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn; and that suited him perfectly. Outside of prison, his image took hit after hit, but inside he was still the big man. But that didn't last long: all the attention is now on ‘CEO murderer’ Luigi Mangione. And Diddy finds it hard to cope with that jealousy.
The ‘CEO murderer’
26-year-old Luigi Mangione grew up in a prominent family in the American town of Towson, in the state of Maryland. He attended an elite private school and then earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the Ivy League universities. He was an active member of the surfing community in Hawaii, but had to stop due to worsening back pain. Luigi underwent surgery for his complaints; and although it was successful, a new frustration arose: the American healthcare system and health insurance. In early December, Luigi was arrested on suspicion of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson; a man who earned $1 million a month. A few days after his arrest, police found a handwritten letter in which Luigi referred to the ‘parasites’ in the healthcare system and complained about the power and profits of health insurers. On the bullet casings found at the crime scene were the words ‘deny’, ‘defend’, and ‘overthrow’; all intended as criticism of the practices of insurance companies. Luigi is now suspected of eleven state and federal charges, including premeditated murder, murder to promote terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon, and stalking, and could even face the death penalty.
A hero inside and outside the cell
Since his arrest, the story, and the photos, of Luigi have gone viral on social media. And despite his act, he is mainly seen as a hero. He is the symbol of the anger in the US over the ‘dismal’ healthcare system. A kind of Robin Hood who stands up for the ‘ordinary people’ and fights against greed and exploitation. That title now follows him even into prison. Since his arrival at the Metropolitan Detention Center, Luigi has been the big sensation there. Fellow inmates welcome him en masse as a hero and share their own negative experiences with health insurance.
A jealous Diddy
That all the attention is now on Luigi is something that Diddy, according to sources from the prison can hardly accept. “Diddy is reportedly angry because he claims to be innocent of sex trafficking, but he receives ‘so much hate inside the prison, while Luigi gets so much love even though he literally killed someone on camera.” That he is now in second place would even cause rage attacks for the rapper. A real confrontation will not happen; Luigi is being held in isolation and will not encounter Diddy. Meanwhile, the two are working with the same legal team. Those lawyers deny, as they always do, these claims as well. There is supposedly no anger or jealousy from Diddy. For now, both are still in custody and will have to continue sharing the attention, whether they like it or not.
