New viewing tip on Netflix: Rooster

During my third week of internship at Amayzine, I received an invitation together with my fellow intern Jan for the premiere of a new series called ‘Haantjes’. Since last Friday, the comedy series has been available on Netflix, and the night before, actors, actresses, celebrities, and influencers gathered in the middle of Amsterdam to watch the first two episodes together – and we were there.

About the series

In Haantjes, we follow four male lead characters who, in a time when society no longer seems to need their masculinity,, decide to undergo a so-called Haantjes training. The four men – played by Waldemar Torenstra, Benja Bruijning, André Dongelmans, and Jeroen Spitzenberger – all struggle with their (love) lives. During the Haantjes training, the men do everything they can to save not only their relationships but also their careers. And it’s not that easy.

The series is super easy to get into; after the first episode, you’ll want to binge the other five right away. If you enjoy dry comedy with a serious edge now and then, this is definitely a must-watch for you.

Everything about the orange carpet

Well, exciting, because then it was time to interview the cast. I won’t reveal too much about the fun conversations, but the comedy in the series was certainly visible among the lead actors. The most striking looks on the red – or better said, orange– carpet (because yes, it was orange) were definitely those of Frouke Verheijde and Sarah Bannier. Frouke, who plays the daughter of Benja Bruijning in the series, wore an eye-catching blue outfit. She was styled by Graziella Ferraro, in an oversized blue blouse with matching pants that came just above the ankles. Sarah Bannier, known from BNN, also stood out with her macho look. She had no role in the series but was invited to the premiere. In an oversized suit with a huge brown fake mustache, she took the theme of the premiere: 'Macho man', very seriously. With pride and confidence, Sarah posed for the camera. Now, you won’t see me laughing easily at a movie or series, but Jan and I couldn’t keep a straight face. So if you don’t have plans for tonight, you know what you can do..
