PETITION: FREE MIKE

Dear everyone,

It is time to take action. We have all watched with increasing amazement and slight frustration at Winter Full of Love, in which Mike – a grown man in his mid-thirties – made a serious attempt to find love. But what turned out? Not his personality, not the spark, not the distance… no, it was his mother who once again threw a spanner in the works.

Antine, the woman who despite everything really saw potential in Mike, ultimately had to drop out because a relationship with him automatically also meant a relationship with his mother. And let's be honest: that is not the intention. A grown man should be able to love independently, without every phone call, every moment of peace, and every decision being overshadowed by maternal interference.

That is why we say: Free Mike! It is time for this man to spread his wings, find his own place, and have the chance to build a healthy, adult relationship. And that is ultimately better for Monique as well. Because otherwise, she has no chance of grandchildren and also no chance to express her caregiving needs. We demand that Mike – with help from RTL, experts, or whoever – takes the right steps towards an independent life. This is not only in his interest but also in that of future love partners who do deserve a chance without an invisible third wheel.
