Putting this plant in your kitchen helps like a charm against fruit flies

Not the most sexy subject, but yes, it is the order of the day. Fruit flies in the summer. Honestly, your house can be so beautiful and beige and neat, but with fruit flies in the kitchen, it’s still a miserable mess. And it looks dirty even though it might be spotless. So you want to get rid of those nasty flies. How? Very simple.
Put a basil plant in your kitchen and you’re done. Basil has a strong scent that repels fruit flies. Fruit flies do not like the smell of basil and will avoid the area where this plant is located. Another tip is a mint plant: that works well too. Or lavender. Lavender has a pleasant scent for people, but is repellent to fruit flies. They can’t stand the scents of basil, mint, or lavender and therefore won’t come into your kitchen.
So how do you proceed? Place a few basil plants in pots in strategic locations in your kitchen, especially near fruit, vegetables, and trash cans. Regularly trim the tops of the basil to encourage the plant to grow better. This also helps to spread the scent because you then have a ‘fresh sprig’ again. If you don’t have a fresh basil plant, you can also use dried basil leaves. Place these in small bags or containers near your fruit and vegetables, but a plant works best.
Tadaa. Easy peasy. You’re welcome.
