Tanorexia: addicted to being brown

By
tanorexia sunbathing

It's always a little battle between people who prefer to lie in the sun continuously and those who walk around with a UV umbrella in Spain, right Daan? I am undoubtedly team ‘sitting in the shade and applying sunscreen well’, but I have friends who prefer to look like they've been nicely roasted on the barbecue by the end of the day and thus have a nice brown tan. Today a little tomato, tomorrow a chocolate, so to speak. I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago, but friend B admitted that she has tanorexia and is literally addicted to the sun and especially to getting tanned by the sun (or even the tanning bed). TANOREXIA, pardon? My arm hairs literally stand on end because this is so harmful to your skin. Aside from the fact that the sun is the number 1 wrinkle-causer, the sun is also really the culprit of all sorts of nastiness like skin cancer. In fact: one in five Dutch people gets skin cancer, yikes. So for all tanorexia people out there: lying in the sun can be harmless to a certain extent, but please make sure to apply sunscreen well and preferably a few times a day. Or if it's just about that color for you, shop here the very best self-tanners. Thank me later!
