These are Breda's nicest terraces

Do you know that feeling when you just have to sit on a terrace because the sun is shining, your legs are tired from shopping (or just from existing), and there's nothing else to do but, with a good glass of wine, watch people? Well, I had that feeling recently too. I was in Breda (in my opinion one of the most beautiful cities in Brabant), but I just couldn't choose where to sit for the best view – and yes, I'm talking about the waiters too – the best drinks and the best food.

Are you going to Breda soon and don't know the city that well? No worries, I've figured it all out for you. From fancy to easy-going: these are the terraces in Breda where you won't take off your sunglasses.

Mr Moos – French-English chic at the Grote Markt

On the pinching corner of the Grote Markt, right in front of the Grote Kerk, lies Mr Moos. You sit at chic white-covered tables with a glass of wine or signature cocktail in hand, while the church decorates your view (hellooo Instagram story). What to order? Their cocktails are like little works of art, so they are definitely recommended. Alongside, you can have oysters or a delicious steak (think: chic). The best time to arrive? Between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM: perfect for after-work wine or trendy mocktail. Ooh, and the dress code? think: heels, glitter, but not over the top.

Suikerkist – Urban & vegan vibes at Havermarkt

A street further, at Havermarkt, you find Suikerkist – urban chill, graffiti art on the walls, large heated terrace space (not that we need that with this weather, but still). Unlike the previous terrace, there's a young, energetic crowd – 20s to late 30s, café-like buzz. What to order? The spicy vegan burger, a plate of pizza or Urban Street Food. And: Suikerkist Gin or colorful summer cocktails. The top moment to join: from 2:00 PM until late – the terraces stay fun until the late hours.

Miss Johnsen – Glamour & worldly flavors at Van Coothplein

A bit of bling at Van Coothplein: Miss Johnsen opens its doors for killer heels, worldly sharing dishes, and fancy pre- or post-dinner cocktails. The vibe? Think: both girls' night out and date night vibes. Friday/Saturday live sax on the terrace (so those days are the most fun). What to order? think flavorful worldly bites, sushi sharing, exotic cocktails – perfect for tasting and sharing.
The moment when the terrace isn't overcrowded? Thursday evening (just not yet weekend craziness).

Ciao Belli – Italian shared dining at the Grote Markt (my fave)

And there it is, the spot where I recently went to eat and where I'm seriously still talking about. Big, Instagrammable, and with a shared dining concept that makes your heart beat faster – what more could one want? You can perfectly go here with larger groups and you mainly see many young adults around you. What do you order? Italian all the way – from steaming antipasti to crispy pizzas, homemade pastas, and fresh spritzers (YUM!). And believe me: everything is just as delicious as it is photogenic.

Gastro Pub De Kleine Wereld – Bourgondian sipping in mini-format

Last but certainly not least: Gastro Pub De Kleine Wereld. You know, one of those places where you plan to order one drink and suddenly three hours later you’re still found on the terrace. This cute little place is literally stuck against the Grote Kerk and is near all the nice shops. The crowd? Nice and mixed. Thirties, forties, fifties – people who love good food, good beer, and just people who can't stop chatting. From around nine o'clock, it really starts to get fun/beautiful here. Then the sun just starts to shine a little gold over the square –mood. My tip: come here for dessert (they are here Amayzineee).

Which terrace in Breda will you choose?

Are you into heels, oysters, and Instagram-worthy cocktails? Then Mr Moos is your table. Prefer urban vibes, street food, and a vegan burger with gin in the sun? Suikerkist is your thing. For an evening full of glamour, sushi, heels, and a live sax, choose Miss Johnsen. Do you get happy from large plates of pasta and lots of spritzers? Then Ciao Belli is your Italian spot (believe me: even a picky eater can fill their belly here). Lastly: if you're going for good company, a Bourgondian beer, and a dessert that makes you want to order another? Then De Kleine Wereld is your new favorite.
