The favorite store of fashion people in Paris

And these are her style lessons

By

Leave it to my dearest Peggy to always inspire you. Recently, she wrote about Crimson Cashmere, a beautiful boutique in Paris run by Linda Wright, a former Texas model who has been making Paris just a little more beautiful and special for years. I dove into her Instagram (442,000 followers) and into old interviews and fished out these delightful life wisdoms.

1. Style has nothing to do with wealth

“When I was a teenager and didn’t have the means to buy that pink Oxford shirt that all the cool girls at my school wore, I thought style was for everyone – except for me. Wrong! Beauty, style, and taste belong to everyone and don’t come with a price tag.”

2. Perfume is magical

Coco Chanel said that women who don’t wear perfume have no future, and Linda also remembers the moment she chose her first perfume as something very special.
“I was 15 years old when my grandmother took me to the only drugstore in our small Texas town. I chose Bluebell because I liked the color of that light blue glass bottle. My problem with perfumes is that they always gave me a headache right away. But I found my ultimate solution: Jo Malone’s body cream in Nectarine Blossom & Honey. This is my most cherished moment every morning.”

3. About gray hair

“Going gray and aging is a privilege that we should embrace. My hairdresser in Paris – David Mallet – said: ‘Let’s make something fun out of it.’ So we cut my hair very short, dyed it white, and then I let it go gray while I kept cutting it until it was completely natural. I never looked back. I love it when I can run my fingers through a healthy head of hair. The hair products from Leonor Greyl are the best.”

4. The importance of a morning routine (and drinking water)

“In September 2017, I had a transient stroke after a flight from San Francisco to Paris. My neurologist explained that I had caused the accident myself because my sports routine had disappeared in favor of getting up early for my boutique. Stress had replaced meditation, and drinking a liter of water a day was no longer on the agenda. So now I have a morning exercise program and I don’t allow myself any excuses to skip it. It’s never too late to turn your life around.”

About Paris and her boutique

“When I was 24, I made my first trip to Europe, and it was during this trip that I fell in love with Paris. So, when I was 30 and at the end of my modeling career in the US, I felt it was time to try something new. That was 42 years ago. Today, I am the proud owner of a beautiful store in the heart of Paris called Crimson. The boutique has been around for 36 years and I had the privilege of taking over the business and watching it evolve over the past 16 years. We specialize in designing beautifully revamped, classic cashmere styles in Scotland and have an excellent reputation for our beautiful color palettes.”

Style tips from Linda Wright

1. Add the Parisian touch

Basic, simple, not too crazy, but with a dash of je ne sais quoi. Think of a trench coat, a striped sweater, or another timeless pattern. Think sophisticated.

2. Loafers!

Parisiennes walk a lot and don’t want to compromise too much in the name of fashion. Loafers make your outfit chic, classy, and comfy.

3. Quality over quantity

How many Hermès bags do you actually want to have?

4. Love for neutral tones

Neutral colors last for years and never go out of style. Completely going along with trends is so not Parisienne-worthy.

5. Choose materials that exude luxury and comfort

Again: the Parisienne wants to look good, but she mainly wants to have fun.
