This is how you add color to your Japandi interior

Now, I don't want to say that I'm already tired of the sad beige after a few months in my new home, but the whole Japandi interior trend suddenly became very much (and by everyone) applied. Totally understandable, of course, because a trend is there to suddenly become very desirable. But the small danger of following trends is that you lose your own identity. What do you really find beautiful? And what makes a house your home?
Today we are absolutely sticking to the basics of a Japandi interior, but we are going to add a bit more color and personality. At least, I've been busy with it for the past few weeks – with the end result being enough styling tips to inspire you too.

Because Japandi and color? That's the new power duo.
How do you give your minimalist zen oasis a subtle dose of spice? I'll take you along:
1. Start with an accent color
Japandi is all about tranquility, simplicity, and natural shades. Think beige, off-white, greige (you know: gray and beige mixed). But that doesn't mean your matching accessories have to be boring in color forever. Choose one accent color that fits within the earthy palette: terracotta, burgundy, olive, or deep forest green. Subtle, but super stylish.
2. Add new materials
Because no, you really don't have to start painting your walls right away. Start small. A woolen throw in warm rust red over the couch, linen cushions in sage green, or a rug with a hint of blue. It adds color without disturbing the tranquility of your Japandi interior. And bonus points: you can easily and quickly change it per season, mood, or vibe.
3. Ceramics with character
We love Japanese craftsmanship and Scandinavian simplicity. Combine that with a vase in colored ceramics and you have just the right dose of uniqueness. You really don't have to put a rainbow on the table; one statement piece is enough.
4. Choose your art
Paintings or prints are perfect for adding a bit of color without hitting you with neon. Go for abstract work in soft shades or a graphic line play with a color accent. Beige remains the base, but with a touch of color, it feels much more personal.
5. Plants join in too
No color without green, literally. Plants and flowers bring life and fit perfectly with Japandi. Place a large Ficus or an olive tree in a statement pot, or choose a vase with eucalyptus on the table. Bet this already makes a huge difference?
6. Lighting with a twist
Choose a lamp with a soft color in the shade or a base in a different hue. It makes your interior stylish and more exciting without losing tranquility.
