TikTok hit: the Liquid Contour from Rare Beauty, but why?
If everyone is raving about a makeup product, then I obviously have to try it. That's how I ordered the just-launched Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Contour from Selena Gomez's brand. Her Soft Pinch blush was already mega popular, so I was very curious about this new addition. My first impression? To be honest: medium. The packaging squeaked and creaked from all sides when I opened it, but so be it. The outside says nothing about the contents.
It felt very watery, as if I needed to shake it, but that's not the case. Blending went surprisingly easy, but the result was a bit patchy at first glance. And this was not what I saw in all those viral videos on TikTok, but those are of course also heavily edited. New day, new chance, because I had ordered two shades out of the seven (the Mantle and Mellow), so I had to.
This one was also very watery, but blending with a round brush, lightly dabbing, gave a surprisingly beautiful result. As they describe it themselves, it is not muddy, cakey, or greasy, and that is indeed the case. It is very subtle, lightly glowy, and even if you don't understand anything about contouring, you can easily work with this Soft Pinch. You won't make a mistake quickly; it's that easy to blend. As long as you work gently, because being a bit too rough with a brush gives a patchy result, oops.
You can even blend it better with your ring finger; the warmth of your skin makes the final result even more natural. So I'm glad I didn't write it off immediately and gave it a chance. And now I'm very happy and it's worth every euro.
Good tip: the same goes for skincare; you really have to give it a few days before you can form your opinion. Because Selena Gomez, you have gained a fan.
