What Amalia's watch collection says about her growth as a queen in the making

As future queen, Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange, is constantly busy with her role, her agenda, and her appearance. A good watch is therefore not an unnecessary luxury. In fact, it might be one of the most telling accessories she wears. In her collection of watches, a clear evolution can be recognized that gently reveals her growth as a queen-in-the-making.
Daniel Wellington
The now 22-year-old Amalia is currently seen everywhere, but before that, she was just a teenager still figuring out her style. Just like we all once were (or still are). The difference is that while most do this just for their classmates, she did it for all of the Netherlands. In that phase, she consistently chose a classic and minimalist model from Daniel Wellington. A brown leather strap, a white dial, and subtle gold details. Far from a statement piece, but just a neat watch that you can't go wrong with. Also not unimportant is the price: for € 139, you can already have her Swedish model on your wrist.
Apple Watch
Fast forward a few years and Amalia’s life looks completely different than in high school. Busy schedule, official obligations, and increasing visibility. And that calls for a different kind of watch, for her this was the Apple Watch. Functional, modern, and above all: incredibly handy. Because what can't that thing do? We saw her with the Apple Watch during work visits, such as in the ABC islands, but also at events like the Formula 1 in Zandvoort. It gives her look a sporty touch and reminds you that at the end of the day, she is one of us. Within the family, she is not the only fan: Queen Máxima and Princess Alexia have also been spotted with the watch, starting at around € 450.
Cartier Panthère
And then, bam, a significant upgrade. We leave the silicone strap behind and swap it for gold. The Cartier Panthère is undoubtedly the crown jewel of Amalia’s watch collection. Solid gold, elegant, and with a price tag of a measly € 23,600. It immediately draws attention, not only because of the price but also because it shows a clear style shift in her choices. Where her earlier choices were primarily practical and understated, this watch radiates something entirely different. Yet it doesn't come out of nowhere; Máxima has been loyal to the Cartier Tank.
This development from Daniel Wellington to Apple Watch and ultimately the Cartier Panthère feels anything but coincidental. It shows how Amalia grows step by step and how her style evolves with her: with time, literally and figuratively, by her side.
