This series in which Conrad Fisher plays a toyboy is amazing

By
A young man with dark, messy hair stands in a doorway of a luxury penthouse overlooking a city at night. He is wearing a light blue shirt with gold baroque prints that is half unbuttoned, revealing tattoos on his chest.

Conrad Fisher has left Cousins for, drumroll… Las Vegas. Or rather, not Connie, but the actor who plays him: Christopher Briney. In Hacks he plays Nico Hayes, a young pop star who becomes the toyboy of Deborah Vance (Jean Smart). Why this is amazing and why the whole internet can't stop talking about it, we will tell you.

What is Hacks actually about?

Okay, nice that Christopher has landed a new role, but what is that series about in which our beloved Conrad plays? It's not a coming-of-age teen story, but a dark comedy. Hacks follows Deborah, a stand-up comedian trying to find her way in show business. Season five begins with Deborah and Ava (Hannah Einbinder), who are returning from Singapore. Those rumors that Deborah is dead? They need to stop. All that thinking about her death made Deb think: is this her legacy? Does she not want to achieve more? Now that Bob Lipka has portrayed her as unstable to the whole world, she knows it's serious: she has to show who she is. To seal her icon status, she wants to win an EGOT. That's when someone has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award and is therefore one of the best in all areas of the cultural sector. To do this, she needs to sell out a show at Madison Square Garden. And she won't just achieve that easily. For this, she has to pull out all the stops. And that's exactly when she meets Nico.

Christopher plays a young comedian who is interested in Deborah as his date. He doesn't want a young girl, but a woman with experience. Does that sound like the plot of Babygirl? Maybe.

Christopher Briney got this role by lying

Yes, that's serious. The lie started during the chaos of Chris’ well-known series The Summer I Turned Pretty. He was in the middle of the press tour with Lola Tung when he was asked to audition for the guest role of Nico. He wanted to participate, but that one Zoom call, because yes, how else do you audition in busy New York, came at a bit of an inconvenient time. While his audition had actually already started, he was still in the car. Stuck in traffic. Because he was rushing home, he had no time to prepare. With only 30 seconds on the clock, he tried to do everything to win this role. Good acting, of course, but also telling a little white lie. During the audition, Christopher was asked if he could sing. “Yes, of course,” he lied. Despite the fact that our favorite boy was in a Broadway show and in the Mean Girls-musical film, he can't sing a pure note. Still, he convinced the casting team. “My parents can sing well, so I thought: I must have those genes,” he tells The Ankler. In the end, it worked in his favor: Chris got the role. But singing? He still had to learn that.

The internet is feasting on Christopher as a Harry Styles lookalike

With a low-cut glitter blouse and tattoos, there is one artist that Christopher's character resembles: Harry Styles. So it's not surprising that the internet is immediately a fan of this role. And let's be honest: it's Christopher Briney. So he already has those fans. But to see him now as some kind of charmer who knows what he wants and goes after it? That drives all of TikTok wild. Although he plays a small role, he has certainly made an impression on the audience. You just have to type in his name and you'll get all sorts of edits of his few minutes of fame.
