This gadget gave Hailey Bieber an amazing butt

That Hailey is a pilates queen, we already knew. Where Miss Bieber first ‘lived for pilates’, she now swears by something else to get those amazing buttocks. In a recent gym selfie, she wore a gadget around her thighs that we haven't seen widely before. While it looks like she has tied a standard elastic around her butt, nothing could be further from the truth. This is not something you put around your legs to keep them together, but a high-tech band that seems to work wonders. Has Hailey really rolled up the pilates mat for some elastic? And how do you actually use those bands? We looked it up for you.

What on earth kind of gadget did Hailey wear to get rounder buttocks?

Hailey wore so-called blood flow restriction bands, also known as BFR bands or occlusion bands. It may sound like a medieval torture device, but according to fitness experts the bands can make your muscles work harder during a workout while using lighter weights. No wonder everyone suddenly wants to know where Hailey got them.

The bands are worn high on your arms and legs to restrict blood flow to the muscles in question. Because your glute muscles receive less oxygen, they have to work harder than normal during lighter exercises. You can compare it a bit to training at high altitude, where less oxygen is also available. The burning sensation you usually get after a heavy set of squats can occur with these bands even when you use lighter weights or just your own body weight. This is ideal if you don't feel like a military-level workout, but still want to build more glute muscles.

No, it doesn't come from pilates

Hailey and pilates were almost inseparable for years. In another interview earlier this year, she indicated that the low-impact sport was her secret to a good body, but yes. She's now backtracking on that. Of course, her pilates background plays a role in how she has been able to develop such good buttocks, but nowadays she gives that credit to the bands. Besides those BFR things, she also trains with heavier weights, a weighted vest, and her personal trainer Kristy Godso.

Do you magically get Hailey buttocks from those bands?

If only it were that easy. The bands can make your glute muscles work harder, but unfortunately, it's not a magical shortcut to a Hailey backside. To build glutes, you really have to do glute exercises, such as squats, lunges, Romanian deadlifts, and hip thrusts. Think of the bands more as a supplement that makes your results even better.

Start, for example, with twelve hip thrusts on one leg while using the band. Supplement your workout with some squats and heavy dumbbells, and you have a round that you can repeat a few times for the best routine. Just putting on some bands while walking won't work. They are handy, but really magical? Nope. Find a nice glute routine (as everyone calls it when you build your butt) and see how you can incorporate the bands into it. By putting everything together, you'll really start to see results.

Whether Hailey has definitively rolled up the pilates mat is the question, but it's clear that she's pulling out heavier artillery for her butt training.
