These hair ties really work (and they only cost €8.50)

After the summer, I often have even more trouble with split ends and I end up in that undoubtedly familiar dilemma: wanting to have just a little more cut off at the hairdresser, but then... it takes a while before you reach your old length again. If you've already been to the hairdresser but regret how much was cut off, or if you have trouble with slow hair growth, there might be a solution.

The Kruidvat Oh My Hair Gummies

Kruidvat sells hair gummies with a high dosage of biotin, a vitamin that is important for hair health. This vitamin is found in eggs, nuts, salmon, and avocado, but these gummies contain 50 times more than the average amount someone consumes per day. They are also packed with other vitamins, namely zinc, iodine, vitamins A, C, D, E, and various B vitamins. And they are well-priced: for 60 gummies, you only pay €8.50.

SugarBearHair

About ten years ago, hair gummies became popular. The hype started around 2016 when SugarBearHair was seen everywhere on Instagram. At that time, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Vanessa Hudgens all posed with the little blue bears in their mouths. Although I never tried them, I was always curious if hair gummies really work.

My experience

When I saw the gummies at Kruidvat, I decided to try them right away. I was initially quite skeptical because they are mainly made of sugar, but I really started to notice a difference. First of all, I had more baby hair, which is a sign that new hair is growing. Furthermore, I noticed that my hair length grew much faster. So it was definitely not a placebo, as I really saw results. My nails also started to grow faster.

In comparison to big brands

Then I became curious: how do the Kruidvat gummies compare to other well-known hair gummies? I decided to check the ingredient lists of a few popular options, such as those from SugarBearHair, Lucovitaal, and Lemme, the supplement brand of Kourtney Kardashian. And what turned out? The dosages of the Kruidvat, Lucovitaal, and SugarBearHair gummies are almost identical, while you pay almost 3x the price for the SugarBearHair gummies compared to the Kruidvat gummies. The Lemme ones contain only half the amount of Biotin, but they have some collagen added. The conclusion is that you are just paying for the brand name.

When I tell people that I take supplements, I often get the comment ‘but you get all that through food every day, right?’. I don't know about you, but there are definitely days when I eat a bit less varied, and it helps to have a good foundation. Isn't it nicer to be sure every day that you are getting the right vitamins? Whether it's through the biotin, the vitamin cocktail, or the combination of everything together, in my opinion, it works. For €8.50, you also get an ingredient list that surprisingly holds up well against a number of much more well-known hair gummies. Just for the price, they are worth trying.
