This is how to take care of your skin during the ski holiday

The Netherlands seems deserted next week, as at least sixty percent is heading to the slopes. I can't wait for those days in the crisp snow and especially for those moments in the lift when you take off your ski goggles and turn your face towards the warm sun. Wonderful, but that's exactly where the danger lies.
In winter, the air is drier and due to the fluctuating temperatures, cold outside and heating inside, your skin dries out faster. Especially during a ski holiday, your skin takes a beating and extra care is not a luxury.
Prevent dry skin while skiing
Especially your face suffers during a ski holiday. Therefore, start with good skincare before you leave. The best way to prevent dehydration is to regularly apply a moisturizing cream without perfume and alcohol.
And perhaps it goes without saying, but still important: drink enough water. About one and a half liters a day also helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside.
SPF is essential in the snow
In the mountains, the UV intensity is higher and snow reflects sunlight, exposing your skin to UV radiation. Therefore, use at least SPF 30 and reapply every two hours.
Do you suffer from pigmentation spots? Then an SPF stick can be handy to keep in your jacket pocket. This way, you can easily apply extra protection to sensitive areas in between.
contains no perfume and is easy to take with you on the slopes.
Skincare in extreme cold
If it's really cold, it's better not to use regular day cream to prevent skin freezing. Apply your skincare mainly in the evening and stick to sun protection with SPF in the morning.
Don't forget your lips while skiing
Lips often become sensitive first in wind and cold because they can't retain moisture as well. Use a lip balm with SPF during the day to protect your lips from the sun and dehydration.
’In the evening, you can give your lips extra care with a layer of petroleum jelly, so they can recover from a day in the cold.
