This €10 flower pot from JYSK also works well in the kitchen

Are you still looking for the perfect utensil holder, but nothing seems to hit the spot? Then TikTok has found a solution for you: everyone is obsessed with this butter yellow holder. But there’s one secret: it’s not a real holder, but a plant pot. That may sound strange, but it actually looks great. Believe us: recycling has never looked so good.

The flower pot from Jysk is the perfect utensil holder

Now that the new season, a.k.a. autumn, is just around the corner, I want to tidy everything up. On my bed lies a new duvet cover, my mug collection has been sorted, and my kitchen is suddenly full of items that don’t fit in my cutlery drawer. In a ‘I want to live non-toxic’ mood, I bought all sorts of wooden utensils, like large spoons and spatulas, but that drawer? It’s full. So that needs to change. I’ve scrolled the internet for hours, looking for the best utensil holder that also looks nice on my countertop. At three in the morning, I finally saw it: the solution. The butter yellow flower pot from JYSK.

The ‘Rudolf’ flower pot is not the first thing you would think of when looking for a utensil holder. We get that. But this little pot is actually ideal for your countertop. It fits nicely next to the faucet in that one corner where you have nothing standing. And yes, you can put a plant in there, but this pot is so small that your kitchen utensils fit perfectly in it.

Due to the neutral color, it fits with many different kitchens. Especially now that many people are opting for a light beige kitchen, it fits in like a puzzle piece from that one puzzle you’ve been missing for a year.

Here’s how to style the flower pot

Just like with any other utensil holder, you can play with this pot. Wherever you have space, you can place it. On the kitchen island, next to your stove, or on top of the extractor hood. By the way, I wouldn’t personally put it in that last spot, but I must admit: I have seen it in sources we won’t name. This timeless pot really fits in your kitchen. You just need to style it well. You can do it like this:

1. On a wooden board

If you want to create a harmonious whole, you can choose to place all your kitchen accessories on a wooden board. This can be a round or square board, or one in a cool shape. Place it in a corner of the kitchen to keep it calm. Try to match the color of the wood with that of your kitchen utensils and possibly other items, like the pepper and salt mills.

2. In the corner behind the cutting boards

Do you have beautiful wooden cutting boards that you want to display on your countertop to steal the show? Then a kitchen utensil holder like this flower pot goes great with it. You can angle it in such a way that everything suddenly looks a bit more realistic. Just having two boards against the wall looks a bit odd, but place the pot and a bowl of fruit next to it and you instantly have a whole different image that looks like you’ve stepped into a Nancy Meyers film.

3. On its own

Instead of letting the pot disappear among boards and other items, you can also choose to let it shine on its own. Place it in the middle of your countertop, in the coffee corner, or conveniently next to your stove. You don’t need any other items to brighten up this pot. In fact: it’s the pot that brightens up your kitchen. Not the other way around.

So you see: you can just place a flower pot in the kitchen. Are you going to order the pot? I’m ready for something different this coming autumn where I can finally store all my oversized spoons.
