Look of the Day

There was a time when I had nothing black hanging in my closet except for a pair of underwear. But that was once, because I don't know what it says about my mental state, but at this moment black dominates 70% of my wardrobe. Especially on Mondays, you can safely bet your grandmother's inheritance that I'm wearing ‘something’ black. Just like last Monday at the editorial office.

What I do when I have a unicolor look is vary with textures. This skirt is shiny and pleated and also has longer points on the sides. I love a bit of asymmetry. The top is from the beautiful Rohe, founded by the Dutch Marieke Meulendijks, who used to run Les Coyotes de Paris. It – the top that is – is made of beautiful wool and tapers a bit at the waist and flares out at the hips, giving it a small peplum.

You can wear it very well with bare arms, but I found it just a tad too cold for that, hence the good old white blouse. I bought the top, skirt, blouse, and black Chloé bag all at Pauw, which I consider the most beautiful multibrand store in the country. The boots are a family heirloom. They are from Hermès and I received them from my fashion mother and podcast buddy Peggy Weijergang.
