New on Netflix in January

By
Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as Poppy and Alex in the Netflix film People We Meet on Vacation.

Happy new year! Is the year starting off nice and fresh, or should you have perhaps skipped that last glass of champagne yesterday? Whether you're nursing a hangover or getting up energetically: a relaxing day after those hectic holidays is definitely not a luxury. Good news: Netflix has one important resolution for 2026: to keep surprising us with new gems. And it starts right away in January. We’ve lined up the best new movies and series for you, so all you have to do is plop down.

Onze Jongens 3 (January 8 on Netflix)

To really leave all the Christmas chaos behind, you don’t want to start with a movie where you need to take notes to follow the story. Just something that’s easy to watch — that sounds heavenly. And while it may be cold outside, it certainly won’t be inside with ‘Onze Jongens 3’, our very own ‘Magic Mike’.

Construction company Onze Jongens has long left the spicy side jobs behind and is back to regular construction work. But when impulsive builder David (Thijs Boermans) learns about his employer's past, he suddenly sees a chance to solve the financial problems. His colleagues go along with it, and the strip shows become a hit. Only the guys soon discover that the business is no longer what they left behind…

Run Away (January 1 on Netflix)

There’s quite a bit of competition now, but there’s still one absolute Netflix king of thrillers: Harlan Coben. The count so far stands at eleven series, but in 2026, that impressive collection will be further expanded. The miniseries ‘Run Away’ promises to keep us on the edge of our seats once again.

The seemingly perfect life of Simon (James Nesbitt) is brutally disrupted when his oldest daughter runs away from home. When he finally finds her after a grueling search, she is vulnerable and deep in trouble. And perhaps the most disturbing: she is not alone. An unexpected confrontation spirals out of control and drags Simon into a dangerous underworld. Shocking family secrets come to light and threaten to destroy his family forever. Maybe not the calmest start to the year, but hey — a Harlan Coben thriller is always a good idea, right?

People We Meet on Vacation (January 9 on Netflix)

The name Emily Henry might not ring a bell immediately, except of course if you’ve been fully sucked into BookTok. With her romance novels, the author has become a phenomenon among booklovers, and now her work is making the leap to Netflix for the first time. With ‘People We Meet on Vacation’, we’re leaving that winter chill behind for a hefty dose of summer romance.

Poppy (Emily Bader) and Alex (Tom Blyth) are best friends. Despite their completely different personalities and the distance between their homes, they have managed to travel together every summer for ten years. Until an unexpected event abruptly halts that tradition. When the duo decides to spend one last vacation together after years, that one inevitable question hangs in the air: does their relationship mean more than just friendship? This is going to be old-fashioned swooning — and that’s exactly what we feel like in January.

His & Hers (January 8 on Netflix)

We’re still on book adaptations, but this time a new miniseries is on the way. And no, ‘His & Hers’ is anything but a sweet romance. This murder mystery is going to shake things up.

Anna (Tessa Thompson) leads a reclusive life. She sees fewer and fewer people, and her career as a news anchor is fading into the background. Until she hears about a murder in Dahlonega, the otherwise quiet town where she grew up. Anna returns and digs into the case — something that doesn’t go unnoticed. Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal), who happens to be Anna’s ex-husband, keeps a close eye on her. Anna is under a magnifying glass in his investigation, but the same goes for him. Which version of the story is actually true? His or hers?

The Rip (January 16 on Netflix)

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck treated us to a very nice Christmas gift: the first footage of their latest thriller ‘The Rip’. And we have to admit, we’re secretly quite curious.

When a large sum of cash is found in an abandoned warehouse, trust within the team of Lieutenant Dane Dumars (Damon) and Detective J.D. Byrne (Affleck) comes under serious pressure. Once outsiders discover how much money is at stake, the situation begins to wobble dangerously. Who can actually still be trusted? Mystery, action, and this actor duo together; expectations are high.

Bridgerton season 4 (January 29 on Netflix)

The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here. Well, almost — at the end of the month. But hey, we’re really close. We’re returning to the ton for season 4 of ‘Bridgerton’.

Colin and Penelope may have gotten their happy ending, but with five Bridgerton siblings still waiting in line, the family is not done with the marriage market just yet. It’s high time for Benedict (Luke Thompson) to take his turn. Normally, he’s not easily impressed, but one mysterious lady in a silver dress effortlessly captures his attention. She is different from anything he has ever seen before, but he has no idea who she really is. Beautiful dresses, a blossoming romance, and of course the necessary drama: secretly, we’ve missed this quite a bit.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (January 17 on Netflix)

The title might already send shivers down your spine, but believe us: this film takes it up a notch. ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ brings back the story of the original 1997 film, but in a gruesomely modern guise.

When five friends accidentally become involved in a fatal accident, they decide to keep everything a secret and avoid the consequences as much as possible. For a moment, it seems to work, until a year later they can no longer escape the truth. Someone knows what they did that one summer. And that person is out for revenge. As the friends are hunted down one by one by a killer, they make a shocking discovery: this has all happened before. Can the survivors of the previous bloodbath help them?
