Pimple? With this budget-friendly cream, you'll get rid of it faster

Do you remember that cream you used to get smeared on your bottom as a child when you had dry patches? Well, that same cream comes in handy much more than you thought. A trick with Sudocrem is going around on TikTok and Instagram that supposedly makes pimples disappear faster. And the good thing is: you only need two things for it.
This is how the Sudocrem hack works against pimples
The idea is simple. You use Sudocrem, the well-known white cream that many people have in their bathroom cabinet, and a small plaster. Here’s how you do it:
- Apply a bit of Sudocrem. First, clean your face and pat the pimple dry. Then apply a small amount of Sudocrem directly onto the pimple.
- Stick a plaster over it. Use a small plaster to keep the cream in place. Make sure your skin is clean and dry before applying the plaster.
- Leave it on overnight. In the viral hack, you leave the plaster on all night. Remove it carefully the next morning.
The idea behind this hack is that Sudocrem forms a protective layer on the skin, shielding the spot. The cream contains zinc oxide, an ingredient known for its protective properties. Sudocrem also contains lanolin and benzyl alcohol.
Does Sudocrem really work against pimples?
Now comes the little disclaimer: although this hack is enthusiastically shared on social media, there is no convincing scientific evidence that Sudocrem makes pimples disappear faster. But I can tell you that I have been doing this for years, and it works. I feel a pimple coming (preferably with a head) and apply Sudocrem before going to bed. And I can really confirm that the pimple goes away faster. But, believe what you want. I am not a scientist.
The closing layer can help protect an irritated spot, but according to scientists, that does not automatically mean that an inflamed pimple heals faster. Moreover, a thick, occlusive cream can actually clog pores or cause irritation in some people. Also, a regular plaster is not the same as a special hydrocolloid pimple patch.
Do you often suffer from pimples? Then you might be better off choosing products specifically developed for acne, such as a product with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Still want to try? Keep this in mind
Are you curious about the Sudocrem hack? Test the cream first on a small patch of skin and preferably do not use it on large areas of your face. Also, do not stick a regular plaster on open or irritated skin, as the glue can cause extra irritation. Stop if your skin turns red, itches, or feels burning.
And perhaps the most important tip: try not to touch or squeeze your pimple. No matter how tempting that may be. Because that can actually make the spot redder and more visible for longer.
