Piste-ready: 7 essentials for in the mountains

1. Powder sunscreen
There’s nothing more annoying than a greasy layer of sunscreen. On your face, in your gloves, everywhere. And let’s not even talk about makeup that completely disappears after SPF 30. Ew. Luckily, powder sunscreen exists. This one from Medik8 is compact enough for your fanny pack, applies without drama, and protects your delicate skin from the mountain sun. And how lovely is it to just be able to touch up over your makeup?.
2. Ski poles with drink holder
The prices of alcoholic refreshments in the mountains can really add up. An Aperol that costs eight times as much? It happens. And while such an orange drink on a sunny terrace in the Alps is unmatched, I’d rather spend my money differently. On these drink ski poles, for example. With 400 ml divided over both poles, you ski down the slope just a bit happier. For about 70 euros, it’s an investment, but given the amount of Schnaps that goes through during après-ski, you’ll get that back quickly. Can they go in the dishwasher? We’ll leave that open for now.
3. Stanley flask
For those who want to take a more subtle approach: the Stanley hip flask. The mouth opening is nice and wide, and the cap is attached to the bottle, perfect for that one lift where the blue slope starts to look more like a black one beneath you. But besides being handy, the flask is just so cute.
4. HEMA thermal underwear
High performance doesn’t always have to be high budget. HEMA’s thermal underwear proves that you can stay warm on the mountain for a soft price. It fits comfortably, hugs well, and is a good base for a successful ski outfit. And PS: it’s now 3 for the price of 2.

5. Uniqlo foldable under jacket
Uniqlo is known for good basics, but their jackets hold a special place in my heart. And TikTok agrees with me. This jacket looks thin but works wonders against the code-yellow winds that are not unknown at the peaks. They sell the under jacket in various earthy colors and it’s foldable. How perfect is that for après-ski?
6. Heated ski soles and gloves
My biggest recommendation is the heated ski sole. As in: you won’t find me on the slopes without this holy invention. Cold toes can ruin the perfect snow day in record time.
In the same category: heated gloves. Unfortunately, these aren’t available for a euro at Action, but some things are simply an investment in happiness.
7. Spines zebra back protector
Safety is hot. Really. A back protector is no longer just for daredevils. And due to that development, they have become a lot prettier. Look at this one from Spines. That zebra print is just so cute for on the slopes and afterwards.
