The rain boot is back and these are the cutest models for this autumn
In the Netherlands, the autumn and winter are cold and wet, and the rain sometimes seems never to stop. Fortunately, autumn outfits are a comfort for me. As soon as the leaves change color, I pull out all my brown shades, knitted dresses, and boots again. However, my leather boots or sneakers are not really a good idea for forest walks. I searched for the perfect alternative, and luckily I found it: rain boots, or wellingtons. For rain boot inspiration, we naturally look to the Brits. There, rainwear is almost a national uniform. The British classic has of course never gone away, but through social media, they are making a big comeback again.
The most famous brand for rain boots is Hunter Boots. Since they were introduced in the 1950s, this rain boot has grown into a typical part of British country life. Until the noughties, they were mainly associated with the royal family; for example, they were a favorite of Princess Diana and Kate Middleton. In 2005, a switch occurred when Kate Moss decided to wear them to Glastonbury. Since then, they became a fashion statement at the muddy festival grounds. Festival it-girls like Alexa Chung, Florence Welch, and Ellie Goulding took over the trend, and they are still spotted at European festivals, like just last week at Lowlands.

Meanwhile, all major brands are joining in and releasing their own version of the rain boots. There are surprisingly many outfit combinations possible; you can wear them under shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses, the options are endless. You can also style them with thick knee-high socks. I am in any case happy that I found a fashionable pair of shoes that I can wear this autumn both to the farm and the forest, but that I can also easily combine with a more dressy outfit after a quick rinse-off.
