Robbert Rodenburg launches new format ‘Guncle’

A program that, according to Robbert, takes place in a kind of living room where anything goes. And if that means that alongside beautiful conversations, some juicy stories come to the table, I’m of course sitting in the front row.
“Conversations with people I’m curious about,” shares Robbert on his TikTok and Instagram. That promises a lot of good.
‘Open Kaart’ in a new guise
Robbert Rodenburg is coming out with a new program. The 28-year-old presenter, YouTube star, and actor (so a jack of all trades) has achieved a lot of success in recent years with his interview program Open Kaart. In this, he interviewed celebrities and engaged in (often in-depth) conversations with them. In the new format, Rodenburg will host both well-known and unknown guests for personal, candid, and sometimes surprising conversations.
Robbert announced yesterday that he has been secretly working on the new format for the past few months. And although he isn’t immediately revealing his entire guest list, the description already sounds promising. “An idea that has been in my head for a long time and starting Tuesday it will finally become a reality,” writes Robbert. I love that, a man with a plan.

From ‘Open Kaart’ to ‘Guncle’
Anyone who knows Open Kaart knows that Robbert is not afraid of a good and in-depth conversation. In fact: he has had about half of known Netherlands at his table and somehow always manages to get people to share just a little more than they initially planned.
Guncle is being broadened even further. “Famous, unknown, good friends, or people I’ve wanted to talk to for a long time,” he writes about his new guests. And we actually find that even more fun. Because of course, we want to know what our favorite celebrity has to say, but sometimes the neighbor of your best friend's sister is just a walking story.
Cozy living room
The setting sounds wonderfully uncomplicated. No complicated game show, no exaggerated decor pieces, just a nice, soft, and homely setting. “A living room where anything goes,” says Robbert.
And it seems that Guncle distinguishes itself from Open Kaart precisely there. It should not only be a place for serious conversations but especially for stories. Conversations that make you think, touch you, teach you something, or (and I secretly hope for this) just make you laugh out loud with a tear in your eye. I often received that reaction after episodes of Open Kaart.
Robbert describes it himself as conversations with people “I’m curious about.” Look, I can work with that.

‘Guncle’ starts Tuesday
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait long. Starting tomorrow, September 15, a new episode of Guncle on YouTube. With (just announced!) as the first guest, Annekee Molenaar. According to Robbert, it will be “more open-hearted than ever.” Brace yourself.
Robbert claims to have worked with a team “with so much love and energy” on the program over the past few months. And that it means a lot to him personally is evident from his announcement. “Maybe precisely because this idea has been in my head for so long and is so close to me, it feels really good to finally share it with you.”
